Tech "Steve" was on time for the job and very friendly. He however parked as far away as possible and when I offered a spot close by for him to park he declined stating he "needs the exercise". Sadly the 9 round trips back and forth to his truck added an extra 15 or so minutes to the labor bill by my estimation. In addition he billed me for 2 full hours, but was driving away at the 1 hour and 45 minute mark. At a whopping $96 per hour fee rate, I feel I was robbed of $48.
Steve was professional and thorough and so far it appears that his braise job to seal off the freon leak is holding. In Texas where I came from, it is customary to be charged a Diagnostic fee if the repair work is not done by the diagnosing tech.
Otherwise it is built into the billing time that it took to trouble shoot and not separated and stacked on top of the overall labor charge. Not so with Peninsula Heat. They stack it on top and has the effect of double billing. The Diagnostic charge was $85. If doctors did that they would be accused of fraud. It's noteworthy and incriminating that in his description notes of his labor charge he includes this, and I quote,"Labor to troubleshoot". Nope, doctors don't even do that! Once again I feel robbed.
Bottom line is good work and my heat pump is back working but I was overcharged by $133.00.
Sorry Steve but it is what it is. When it comes to customers perception, it is everything. My appreciation of your job did a 180 when I got and paid the bill.
