I signed with PES Solar to install Solar panels on my house back in March/ April of 2022. The Job cost 67k and was completed in July of 2022. Come August of 2022 I received access to the panels from the company so I could track the energy they produced. I noticed that two of my panels had never been active since installation. I called a few times to have the issue resolved. After a few attempts I received a call saying someone would be out to check on the panels. I stayed home all day for that person to be a no show. I called they apologized and finally had someone come out to check on the panels. That person told me that the inverters were defective and would have to order new ones. New ones come in and a different person comes out to install them and he comes to find out that the inverters where completely fine and were just never plugged in. So I had 2 panels that were never plugged in from installation where they should have tested my system but never did. So for 3-4 months I lost energy the two of those panels never produced and I was never once compensated for that energy. Once that issue was resolved we start moving into the winter months where I was told I would start building up all my credits and have a very low or no electric bill. My surprise my bill is close to 100$ from the electric company and my panels are producing very low amounts on very clear days. I call customer service and I was told I would get a call back two weeks go by and nothing I have to call back again. I get ahold of a tech who is very good and called me every Tuesday with updates about why my system is doing that. According to the tech the software they used to gauge my production was off and was not accurate. His first few solutions are for me to add more panels on my roof at my cost. He said he would try to find other solutions and have a supervisor contact me to go over them. So I am on track to produce maybe 60% of the electricity I was told I would produce. I asked for a supervisor to call me and I was told one would reach out to me to discuss my options and 3 weeks has gone by and no one has reached out. Customer Service is awful.. Installation was great except for the fact two panels never got hooked up and would have never known If I didn't call to get access to the panels for me to monitor them. In the contract it says they would monitor the panels as well so obviously that didn't happen. I understand there are days where it is cloudy, we have storms. and rainy weeks but for me to be told I should be making close to 115% of my electric and I shouldn't have a bill to being on track to making only 60% of my electricity is insane after paying 67k on a system. Its like buying a pair of shoes and only receiving 1 shoe.

DON'T DO IT. They lie, and lie, and lie. We've had our system for a year now and this billing cycle is the first one where our system generated more kWH than we used. Over the past 11 months we have been paying $59.00 MORE per month than we were before PES installed the system. The numbers they gave us about our projected savings, based on past usage, are pure fiction. The sales rep also told us that we'd be receiving a check back from the Federal Government to offset the cost - but it was a lie. The terms of the note change in a few months, and then, under the best circumstances, we'll be paying $116 more a month than we did before PES got us. Don't believe a word they say. And when we contacted them to tell them that the system was under-performing, we received a snippy email reply saying "that's not something we can fix." We are seniors on a fixed income and thought, based on their lies, that this would save us money and help the environment, too. Instead, they told us what they thought we wanted to hear, and now we'll be paying on this loan until we die. Just DON'T DO IT and avoid this company. Documentation to support my claims is available upon request.
UPDATE: After several days of dealing with the "new" head of customer service, and sending PES 19 Duke Energy bills to support our claims, Alex Kennard, who claims to be the General Manager, "generously" offered to give us two free additional panels if we would purchase a third at $2200.00. The initial installation was 37 panels. 37 times $2200 is $81,400, which is a lot more than we paid for the entire system, so Mr. Kennard's kind offer was nothing more than an attempt to con us out of more money, not to "give" us something free.

We hired PES Solar to install solar panels a few years ago. I didn't initially leave a review because I'm not really a review person. However, I noticed a review about a gentleman named "Joe (PES Owner)" who happened to also be my sales rep. Joe was very honest and forth coming. He explained how the financing worked with the banks and how pricing worked for all solar companies.
He did not rush me to make a decision and when I nearly signed with another solar company, he actually congratulated and told me not to feel pressured into anything. He mentioned he would still be available to assist and help as much as possible. Joe saved me from purchasing a system for nearly $10K more due to a mere difference in solar panels.
After having my system installed professionally and quickly, I have only paid the customer service charge as Joe stated I would. He has kept in touch with me and even paid me more for my referrals than what is usually offered; $500. He is a Christian with a family and two kids now. He is nothing short of a pleasure to work with and I had to leave a review when I learned of the negativity spoken around his name. He deserves more than 5-stars but for now this will have to do. Great company to work with and Joe is a true professional!

By Amanda G.April 15, 2022Coat roof and install solar panels and generator$100,000
We hired PES Solar to install solar panels and a back-up generator. We told our sales rep that prior to the installation we wanted our metal roof cleaned, coated and sealed. He said the owners of PES also own PRS, a roofing company and they could handle the entire project from start to finish. Long story short, PRS completely messed up the job they did on the roof and made a bigger mess in the process. The sealant looks uneven and VERY MESSY, they spilled a couple gallons in my gutters and got roof sealer on my freshly painted wall. The Solar panels were placed incorrectly on top of the messy sealant. It took a while to finally get the solar panels to pass county inspection. I wrote a few bad reviews and was made a promise by the owner that they would add 4 more panels to square everything off and help cover some of the crap job of the sealant if I removed the reviews. I took down the reviews about PES as a show of "good faith" Here I am 6+ weeks later and still in the same situation on a project that isn't complete. They told the financing company the job was complete. I'm still looking at a crappy sealant, uneven panels, no net meter with Duke. So I'm looking at a power bill AND a solar bill for a project that isn't done! Not to mention all the promises not fulfilled and missed appointments when we took time off work to be here. I could keep going about property damage and screw ups but I'll save the rest for court since PES doesn't want to make anything right.

By Connie O.February 16, 2022Solar Energy System$30,000
Paid $30k for solar energy system for my home. I was ordered to pay in full after county inspection. My power company came out the following week and approved the meter. The system has not operated at all. They sent a tech who could not find the issue. I was then told that someone would be back the following week to fix it. Never happened. Been calling each week and I keep being told “someone will be out there next week”. There is no urgency for them to get this system working. Very disappointed.

Please Do not trust this company! PES solar quoted on installing a system for my house. The stipulation was that only clamps would be used on the standing seam metal roof and no penetration would occur. They provided a quote with the clamps included and I paid 30% of the quote for them to proceed. PES solar proceeded to install the system with clamps in September of 2022. After the system was installed The contract states that 60% would be paid during installation but they decided not to charge me at that time. That is when I found out that they did not follow the permit. At that point my roof was compromised by the installation process so they could not take the system off and I could not use the system because the city would not sign off on the permit. Weeks became months and almost a year and a half later, countless phone calls and more equipment added to the roof the system was cleared by the city. Through their negligence I was in limbo over a year, losing thousands of dollars in electricity cost and never knowing if the system would ever be turned on. It is now Jan 15th 2024 and the system has yet to be turned on. I have paid in full but they are waiting for their accounting department to clear it. They will not tell me how long it will take. I want to make sure as many future solar customers know what I went through. I know most of the reviews are positive but if I had to do it again I would stay far away from PES Solar.
