  Replace wood burning fireplace with a direct vent propane fireplace

  We had Gary Pierce and his crew replace our wood burning fireplace with a direct vent propane fireplace. They were professional and did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to use them again.

  The technician came to my at the request of my realtor to do two things: first, when the home was inspected for a sale, the inspector did not light the two propane fireplaces. So we needed someone to come and light the fireplaces to show that they worked. Second, an inspector had found that a damper on one of the fireplaces was not closing completely. The technician explained that the damper should never close completely on a gas/propane fireplace. He looked at the damper and decided that he would try and fix it so that the damper could close completely even though we did not ask him to do that and he worked to make sure that the damper could open completely even though the inspector had not asked for that. My realtor was told that the cost for the lighting of the fireplaces was $89. It turns out that we were mislead because the $89 was just to come to my home. To look at both fireplaces was $199 each giving a total of close to $500 to light a fireplace and to tell the buyers that the damper should not close completely unless they decided to convert the gas fireplace into a fireplace in which wood can be burned. My realtor and I feel that we were mislead and way overcharged for the service. We would not recommend using this service.
