I have paid Plott Creek Builders $360, 000 to repair and upgrade the home I purchased last year. The results are abysmal! This was to be completed in 6 months, by the end of Oct '24. When the project was 3/4 finished, I paid the 4th large payment of $86,000. This company ended any serious work at that point. The owner, Jeremy Rogers, has never called me back after I made repeated attempts to contact him about finishing what I had paid for. I left over a dozen polite voice messages, a dozen text messages, and over a dozen emails. I have never received a return phone call. The work that was done was very good, except for the new roof, it LEAKS! Plott Creek should fix this immediately. It still leaks! I have paid in full for the installation of a Generac backup home generator. Because it was never installed, my wife and I were left without power and water for 5 days after the hurricane! We paid for a bathroom in the basement, it still missing the toilet! I also paid for a stone fireplace in the upgraded basement, never done. Just a big empty space in the wall. He was paid to fix everything in a 63-page home inspection report and has failed to do so. Lots of other paid for smaller projects were never finished. I have contacted the NC Board of Licensing for General Contractors. It appears, as per our contract, he may never have obtained a Building Permit! Certainly, it was never posted at the job site as required by law. I am working now on a comprehensive packet for an Attorney in hopes of recovering some of the money I have lost. I think this will be an easy court case. Unfortunately, this could take a year. After the court case, I plan to visit the Sheriff's office and file appropriate criminal charges.
We put a lot of our life's savings into this home. I spent much of my adult life in the regular army, not a high pay career so this loss has been a serious financial hardship as we are now having to pay other contractors to finish what we already paid Jeremy to do.
I cannot under any circumstances recommend Plott Creek Builders.

In November 2023, we began a cottage house project at our Clyde, NC cabin property with Jeremy Rodgers of Plott Creek Builders, paying $90,000 upfront for plans, surveys, and initial supplies. More than a year and a half later, the only thing we've received is a single drawing of the building plan. The project, originally scheduled for completion by April 2024, has been nothing short of a disaster.
After taking over six months just to get the survey completed, the survey determined our planned location was not viable. Jeremy suggested an alternative site in the middle of our driveway, which we immediately rejected. We made it clear that if the cottage couldn't be built in our chosen spot, we would likely cancel the project.
Then, in July 2024, without approval or prior discussion, Jeremy dug up our driveway, causing extensive damage to the driveway, drainage system, retaining wall, landscaping, and electrical connections--leaving us without power to our garage and RV parking.
Despite repeated promises from Jeremy to repair the damaged property, eight months have passed with no resolution. Jeremy made a half-hearted attempt to make the driveway passable, but debris from the damaged electrical system remains, the electrical, drainage and landscaping have not been repaired. We have sent several emails, texts, and calls, yet communication has been virtually nonexistent. We do not live at the property full time so we've had to rely on security cameras just to confirm if any work was attempted.
While we acknowledge delays due to the hurricane, there has been more than enough time to complete these critical repairs. Our patience has run out.
We are now escalating this matter to North Carolina authorities and pursuing legal action.
What was supposed to be our retirement dream has turned into a frustrating nightmare.
