I hired Plumbing Nerds to install a Kitchen Sink Faucet and they charged me $572 for the installation. Seventeen days later water started leaking from the kitchen sink area. I called them on a Saturday, and they came out to look at the problem. The technician stated that I needed to replace 3 (I REPEAT 3) Emergency shut-off valves which would cost me another $408.09. Of course with water leaking out you have no choose but to agree to the price in order to get it fixed. So, at the end of the job I got the invoice and was charged $544.12 for 4 Emergency shut off valves NOT 3 as quoted. I am sure an Emergency Shut-off valve would not cost me $139 at Lowe's or Home Depot. So, I figure $39 for the valve and $100 for labor for each valve. Since, living in Florida it seems that ALL of these specialty technicians (i.e., electricians, HVAC, Plumbers, etc.) just love to take advantage of a person in a bad situation and squeeze every dollar out of them.
