I am a West Seattle guy and I had Portal pour a big 30x20 pad for some heavy work vehicles and I was very happy with the end result. I have quite a bit of experience with concrete from back in 'the day' so I have a pretty good idea of what to look for. Chris's team did an excellent job! They showed up when they said they would, and they went to work and got the project done in a timely fashion. I would not hesitate to use them again.

Chris & his team were brought on as a sub contractor for my basement finishing project. The scope of work was a basement entry way with concrete stairs, retaining wall on two sides, and sump pump with basin under the landing at the bottom of the stairs. The job included digging down through very difficult earth by hand on this side of my house (no access for machinery) and hauling the dirt & rocks away. They even found a huge rock that we nicknamed 'the meteor' that had to be broken up to move. After the digging, they built wooden forms and poured the concrete. This project took 4 pours due to the complexity (3 of which required a cement mixer & pump truck). The result was an incredibly well done entry way to my newly finished basement. Great people, price, and workmanship - highly recommend.

We purchased a home in West Seattle this August with the intention of retiring there (in 5 years). Great location, good bones but needed a lot of work. What I thought would take a couple weeks took two months, during which time I discovered that the wooden steps were beyond repair. I found Portal on the internet and was really pleased with their reviews so I called Chris, the owner, who was courteous enough to make time to come see me the next afternoon.
The job at hand was on steep terrain, in need of demolition, creative redesign and construction - with a request for help on very short notice at the end of dry weather when his company was fully booked. I was very lucky to have found him!
Chris gave me a very reasonable bid and said that it would have to be in stages so he could fit it in his schedule. Long story short, he and his crew did more than promised. They were fast, efficient, very helpful and communicative when I had questions, clean and organized and the job was done so well. They were a pleasure to have around as well. Really nice guys who aren't just a crew, they're a tribe; they really get along and work well together and it shows!
Portal is West Seattle in form and in real quality.
I only have one concern: Ever since then I find myself reflexively analyzing steps and pathways for design, quality etc. instead of just walking over them. I'm hooked! Thanks Chris.
