Hired Mark Fredericks , Portcullis Partners to remodel and enlarge a master bathroom and to build a master closet over the garage. He said the bathroom would take 2 weeks to complete. Upon signing the contract he asked for very large deposit...we gave him a much smaller deposit. He began work 9/3/2019.
He assigned a project manager for our job. The demolition took two days. After that we saw his subcontractors sporadically every few days for very few hours. The project manager did not show up to check the work and was very abrupt when he dropped off his workers (who did not speak English, were not
briefed on the work to be done, and we could not communicate with them) Very little work was done, which turned out to be sub par and shoddy. We were told by the project manager that he would not send any more workers until he was paid by Portcullis Partners. Mark Fredericks gave us a work schedule after we pressured him, but still work did not progress. He always had an excuse...."My mother in law fell down the steps" as a reason for his lack of attention to the project.
When we inspected the work we saw problems: sub floor was to be 3/4 inch plywood, it was 1/2 inch and was not secured properly so it was bouncy and uneven. Wall insulation was not up to code (R value too low), beams were cut.
It was now 5 weeks and the work was not done.
We fired Portcullis Partners and now have to hire a new contractor to remove most of the work and to complete the job properly.
We asked Portcullis Partners to refund overpayment for work not completed.
We have gotten no response,
DO NOT HIRE this unscrupulous contractor.

The project, which involved the complete renovation of an upstairs hallway bathroom took nearly six months to complete even though Mr. Fredricks said during initial consultation, that 'they like to be in and out in two weeks".
During the renovation process there were a myriad of issues, however, the complaint being lodged here is failure to properly install the bathtub. On February 9, 2019, just days after the jobs official completion, movement and noise was observed as one walks toward the tub drain. It was accompanied by a break in the caulking between the tub and the first row of tile. The break is consistent with the floor not being level beneath the tub as one side now has a wider gap between the tub and tile than the other side. We are now additionally concerned about water and/or moisture build-up behind the tile, which may lead to mold growth.
We alerted Mr. Fredricks immediately upon experiencing this issue (February 9) and on March 23, 2019, he came by and said he would contact his foam guy on March 25th and arrange to put foam underneath the tub through the plumbing door to stop the noise and movement. Beginning on Friday, March 29th we started to reach out to Mark to find out when the foam guy would address the issue. We contacted Mark a total of 11 times and got a response back on April 8th that he was trying to gang it with another job in Stamford. We reached out 7 additional times and he responded on April 23, 2019 only to communicate that coordinating the foam truck was too cost prohibitive so he would have to do it with foam cans. He asked if we had any availability for Thursday or Friday of that week and we responded that we were available on Friday, April 26. We have never heard from him again.
We have contacted him more than 20 times about this one issue. His lack of communication or non-response is unprofessional and consistent with someone who has no intention of addressing the workmanship issue.

Do not use this person. Hired June 2019 to renovate a small 200 sq ft bathroom. Never finished. In October 2019, we got fed up with him, fired him, hired another contractor to finish the job. He owes me $1200 for incomplete work. Was going to take him to small claims court, but he filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and shortly afterwards, had all debts discharged as of 1/15/2020. Don't believe me? This is public record. His full name is "BERNARD MARK FREDERICKS JR" and you can do a Google search to see for yourself.
