  Demo, Insulation, Drywall, and Trim

  We hired Dennis Gau with Poulson Custom Homes, Inc. on September 24, 2017 for demolition, insulation, drywall, and trim for our Harvey flooded house. Our complaint is about the drywall, which was in process from October 11 to December 13, 2017, and the unprofessionalism we experienced from Dennis during this time. Our walls were left with a visible ridge (raised seam) where the old sheetrock and new sheetrock come together and it was noticeable on approximately 75% of our downstairs walls. A list of our complaints:
  • ~75% of our walls had ridges (raised seems) from drywall installation
  • We had two very thorough walkthroughs of the house going room by room highlighting the ridges and we never received an explanation as to the cause, nor an apology
  • He utilized an unfamiliar sub-contractor drywall team as he sent an email to his drywall subcontractor after our first walkthrough with him and stated, “Who did the sheetrock here? Need Help! Need to meet to go room by room because the seams are really bad and some have bubbled.” No meeting resulted as our interior security cameras would have recorded their walkthrough of the house.
  • One meeting with drywall owner did not occur, a second meeting occurred but only to a minor degree and the same workman continued to be sent to do the same process over and over again not resolving any issues
  • On one occasion, he told us to review the work done and let him know if there were any issues; this is the job of a contractor
  • He invited an unauthorized person in our house to look at the walls
  • We had two other professionals review the drywall and they identified several issues and recommended approaches to the repair differing to the process Dennis was using
  • Installation and attempted repairs (on drywall alone) from Dennis took over two months with work not being done in a good and workman like manner
  • We attempted negotiations on reduced payment for unsatisfactory/incomplete drywall repairs with outright refusal and threats of liens
  Overall, we found Dennis to be unprofessional and extremely unhelpful in resolving the drywall issues he caused.

  Poulson Custom Homes started out by him telling us exactly what we wanted to hear. Halfway thru building communication strained. Dennis Gau, builder, started to overcharge us on items that we had previously been told of cost. Left us to speak to his subs and then would tell them not to listen to us. Did not STAND behind his warranty and did not turn in paperwork to warranty company that we paid for. His INTEGRITY is very QUESTIONABLE. Will not respond to certified mail and will not return phone calls. BEWARE
