  Resurface driveway

  Used this contractor for a resurfacing of a deteriorating driveway in Hamilton, NJ. They were working in the neighborhood and I piggy backed on their other job. I got a good price on a late season job. While I should have gotten a complete removal and replacement of the driveway, the resurfacing was done quickly with 3 inches of new asphalt was quickly in 1 day and the driveway looks much better and is now safer than it was. A 5 person crew came at 8AM and spent an hour prepping the surface and returned a few hours later to apply the new surface. They worked quickly and efficiently. Being very particular about the repair, I had done some of my own prep work the day before to remove some of the worse areas. They removed that waste as part of their prep. They didn't use NAPA recommended adhesive between the old and new layers but did fill the driveway pits and holes to create a level surface. The quality of the asphalt material appeared as good if not better than materials another company used on a different neighborhood drive way this summer and was hot when laid. While no specific tools were used to make sure the grading for drainage was correct, it appears as good as it was before. I'll check after it cures and will likely seal areas near the house and stoop as an extra precaution. I don't expect to use them again nor think their five year warrantee will be useful but their work was good, they were polite and respectful and appeared to be experienced. Their efforts in doing the heavy lifting parts of the job really helped me improve the look and quality of the driveway. The job cost $2500 and did include resurfacing a concrete walk way that was slightly sunken and sloping towards the house. At this point I'm happy with the work done.

  Beware of Prestige Paving - Somerset NJ

  (1) Falsely states the complexity of work to support his charges
  (2) Started the work before giving a contract stating the scope of work
  (3) Did not provide receipt even when asked multiple times
  (4) Wrongly claims 100% satisfaction guarantee on his business card and website
  (5) Does not perform the work satisfactory and as stated during initial discussions
  (6) Does not give anything in writing before beginning the work. Which is required by NJ law for any job more than $500

  I clearly instructed them that I want the section in front of the garage dug up and put in a new base prior to putting asphalt and they could overlay over the other areas.
  He told me that he will have a team of 5 workers working for 3-4 days on doing the job. They came for a few hours on first day and broke asphalt in a few areas. They came back the second day and just overlaid on top of the existing driveway without fixing the issue with the sub base in front of the garage as promised.

  One section of the driveway in front of the garage has a big bump and they claim that it is done for proper drainage. My 5 year old son has tripped over this a couple of times now since the garage floor and the driveway are not at the same level. We had rain this week and due to improper grading and drain work the drain was backed up and the water came into the garage again. So the problem that was there before still exists and the purpose of putting the new driveway and drain is not solved.
