Protech replaced a hot water heater in the basement. The heater was replaced as a condition of the sale of the home, so there was a time constraint. Protech picked up the heater from Lowe's and installed the heater while the home was vacant. Based on their reputation, I was not concerned about monitoring or supervising their work. The buyers have not made any comments to me about the heater, which I presume means the work by Protech was done to their satisfaction.

Their tech said my overhead heater (2 years old) had a bad circuit board. ProTech called me with an estimate for $1,300 (half the cost of the new heater installed). I contacted a local plumbing supplier and was told it was a 1/2 hour job to replace and the part was around $100. When I confronted ProTech they said I found the part cheaper than they did ($800 less). I hired a different plumber who said the board was good and the problem was with a different part that he replaced. His total invoice was less than $400. ProTech blatantly tried to rip me off and when I refused to pay for their bad diagnosis they turned me over to a collection agency.
