Excavated without locates damaging water line – absent communication.
Pueblo began excavation without calling for locates and ripped out the water line on the first day. Tenants were left without water over night, while a temporary repair was installed. We were never notified that they had damaged the water line, tenants let us know that the water was off.
The afternoon on the day Pueblo had already removed the tap for the existing sewer line, pueblo was asked when they intended to complete the excavation to connect to the existing service. We were told that Pueblo did not intend to connect it to the existing service to a tenant occupied home. In spite of the engineered design provided at the beginning of the project (which Pueblo indicated that they “did not read”), Pueblo demanded a 33% change order to continue working and restore service to the occupied structure. One week later the connection still had not been completed. We ended up having to complete the connection with another contractor. Pueblo refused to replace the damage water line, even after the inspector notified Pueblo that the water line as they had patched it, was not adequate.
Throughout the project communications would take 1-2 days to be returned. We had to visit the property 2-3 times a day to determine if the work was being performed or not. Overall a disappointing project. It cost us 50% of the work scope cost to have the water line re-run after Pueblo was fired.
