David Cao and his team at R&D Construction were amazing on our front house renovation. David was communicative, responsive, and schedule driven. His crew worked as a true team, pitching in where ever needed with their multi-threat skills, and they were respectful and kind. From rough structural work to finish carpentry and painting, R&D handled it all with efficiency and a keen eye for how the house ultimately ended up looking, and maybe more importantly, how it ended up feeling.
A key point was that David, as a contractor, worked well with our architect, structural engineer, and the building inspectors. He called in subs as needed, who were equally conscientious and schedule driven. Even with our unexpected add ons (which should always be expected), David and his crew got us back into our house as scheduled, and on budget. I've heard that is rare, but I'm guessing not with R&D.
But what sold me was David saying, "I'm a finish guy." Meaning, we knew there would be an attention to detail without having to worry. Of course, there were things that came up, but David usually saw them before we did, and when we did bring up something, it was assuredly addressed.
R&D is a family run business, handed down from David's father to he and his brother, and his crew seem to be long term employees, so it feels like a family business. Their long term reputation is important, and you get that. We highly recommend R&D for any sized job, but you'll have to get in line. We've had 5 to 6 neighbors ask for David's contact info for their projects. He'll be busy on our street for a while!
