This contractor installed three windows and one exterior front door for me in June 2011. His work has definitely stood the test of time and I would highly recommend him to others. His pricing is very competitive and he is very detail oriented.

There have to be other people in the Altoona area who have had dealings with this so-called "contractor". This is just so wrong! How do these people look in the mirror and not see what we see? A scam artist, yes a scam artist.
To the moderator...is it possible to post pictures of this "botch job"? NJC Altoona

04/30/12. I give this contractor NO stars BUT COULD NOT SUBMIT THIS REVIEW WITHOUT AT LEAST ONE. SITE WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DO SO ... This 'Contractor' was scheduled to remodel my bathroom. All I wanted was ...remove/replace old sink, toilet. Remove wall cabinets...put up new trim & beadboard. Paint trim/beadboard...put in supply line for toilet. Hang mirror/ lights. Had went over my expectations with him. Then called me to ask if it was ok for his employee to do the job instead as he was taking the week off. He stated he went over my plans with him. When I signed the contract with his employee, whose sole name, Scott Salyards, was on the contract, I gave his employee more than 1/2 down. I paid for most of the materials before hand (beadboard/paint/toilet). As of right now my bathroom is incomplete as I 'complained' (as Mr. Mock put it...that I would never be satisfied).
Will be posting the pictures of the shoddy undone job done by his employee on Face book and other sites. Mr. Mock did see the work that had been done (and clearly not completed) and stated he would correct only a few...like hanging towel bars??? Yep. That's what he said he would do. Then he asked of me to check out the paint job I, the homeowner, had done in my own home to compare my work to his paid qualified professional. Are you serious?!
My new beadboard (paid for in advance) looks like the paint brush/roller was placed on the ground to pick up dirt before painting the walls. Lots of 'runs' & missed spots...can see the white beadboard in places. The 8 foot trim on closet door/bathroom door was replaced with 7 foot trim (WHY!?) ..and pieces added to the bottoms that are not fit tight. Can clearly see the 'addition'. I can fit 8' in my SUV!!! Mitering job is not mitered. Went CRAZY with big, thick, smeared white caulking...walls, trim, floor, tub...in my all cream/satin nickel unfinished bathroom.
Mirror was hung 1" above sink & chewed up due to light fixture sitting right on top of mirror & glass shade is cracked. Very large hole where light was hung..(WHY?)...filled with caulking. White, of course. Very noticeable. Radiator screens were painted with not being cleaned (dirt/dog hair on them). Holes for vanity plumbing is splintered. Not cut with a zip saw.
I own my home..also my own tools...Did not have the time or energy to do this job myself. This is not a cheap 'rental' that needed fixed up. It is part of my home. The work done is clearly unacceptable by all who has seen it. Thinking of having an 'Open House'.
Maybe Mr. Mock would not have done as poorly of a job... who knows (???), but he allowed his employee to do so. Mr. Mock has told me to get another contractor to fix the problems he thinks I have with the bathroom. How about I get signatures from all who have viewed it?!
Waited/saved for 5 yrs to have this job done. Raising two grandchildren on my own. Yep... single, white working female. To all contractors.... Would you have asked a man who owned the property to check out their work they did????? Thank you Mr. Mock for adding this stress to my life, leaving me with an unfinished bathroom & taking away from my grandchildren. Have already contacted the BBB. Thanks. YCC ALWAYS. -

The work done by Rick's assistant Scott Salyards who he assigned my daughter's bathroom job was one that you see on the Holme's on Homes show. There wasn't one thing done right. It is a total botch job! The floor was not level, and he did nothing to level it. Brand new $228.00 toilet is sitting on a slant, has dings on it, beautiful vinyl flooring "pieced" in the closet and at the door, new vanity gouged, "hatched" the vanity to fit over the pipes, hole made for the light above the vanity was cut larger than needed and then caulking was used to fill in the "mistake" A large amount of caulking! All trim work is botched, and not mitered. New mirror has dings all over it and caulking smeared on it. bead board is a total mess, with paint runs and caulking stuck to it. Metal which goes to the radiator cover was never cleaned before spray painting so has dust and gunk all over it. Not one thing is right. Rating for Rick Mock and his less than experienced assistant Scott Salyards is a big "0". NJC Altoona, PA

Rick completed the following projects at our home: Full kitchen, bedroom flooring, multiple side & porch double-hung and garage glass block windows, all with w/ framing. Multiple entry and screen doors. All were done perfectly - and I mean -perfectly all over the past several years. Rick is reliable, detail-driven, customer focused, and competitively priced. I don't know about the "helper" in other reviews, apparently not working with him now. Rick is busy all the time, with good reason. JW Altoona, PA
