Worse experience in my life. This is truly a bad business. Out of four proposals I received, I mistakenly chose R&R Industries, Inc. Roofing consultant, who claims to be an expert, Jeff Prater, had his crew re-roof my home. He provided the service using low quality materials and he was unable to pitch my Florida room the first time. The City of Daytona did not pass inspection, so he had to redo the Florida room. When he was done trying to pitch the Florida room for the second time, I asked for a second opinion of the work performed to another roofing company. This is what they found: "Contractor used a 1/8" tapered system instead of the 1/4" system that is required to get the proper slope for adequate drainage from the low slope roof. Flat roof material was dead ended into the wall using L flashing to terminate instead of turning material up the wall with K flashing.
Galvanized drip edge was used on the entire roof (pitch and low slope) and should have been aluminum due to proximity to brackish body of water. Shingle nails used should be stainless steel due to brackish water proximity.
Sales representative responsible for the contract should have informed customer about proper materials (aluminum drip edge and stainless steel roofing nails) due to brackish water proximity and presented customer with option to upgrade contract to recommended materials." The president of R&R Industries, Inc., Guy Beasley, asked me to set up meeting with the company that pointed out their shoddy work so, I did so. Both president Guy Beasley and Jeff Prater were incredibly disrespectful towards the other roofers and they ended up insulting them. When I told the President I was not happy about the nails being used in my roof, because of the salt in the air since I live between the river and the ocean, and because I was under the impression they knew what they were doing, he told me it was my job to conduct research. How was I supposed to know they would use low quality galvanized electro plated nails instead of stainless steel? Jeff Prater was so insulted about his shoddy job being pointed out, and the fact that he did not pitch my Florida room correctly that he took it upon himself to cut two holes on the roof of my Florida room without consulting me first. I ALMOST FAINTED!! Now I have two patched circles that look horrible right outside my bedroom. They also did a horrible job around the structure of the chimney where it meets the roof and all around it. Everybody can see it from across the street. I am pretty sure water is getting in around the structure. They also failed to replace rotted wood. I went to the attic and have had to spray chlorine.
President Guy Beasley left meeting he asked me to set up with the other roofers very upset and left Jeff Prater alone with the other roofers on top of my Florida room. Roofer of the other company was explaining to Jeff Prater that the Florida room was not pitched and he wanted to show him more things on the roof. Jeff Prater became so mad that he started mocking this gentleman by repeating what he had said in the gentleman's accent, which happens to be Hispanic. I heard it, I have witnesses, and I found it very offensive.
I will hire somebody to fix the chimney because I do not want to deal with these individuals. I know that I will need to replace the roof soon. They only gave me a five year warranty and never handed me the warranty for the shingles so I can register them. Guy Beasley told me he would give me a 15 year warranty if I signed a cease and desist so I would not complain about them. What?? I have to sign what?? I don't think any reputable business would have any of its customers sign a cease and desist letter. Very shady!! During a phone conversation, Guy Beasley told me he would have not used electro-plated galvanized roofing nails for his home. Wow!
I have ended up spending more money because of their unfinished poor quality work. I had never felt so humiliated in my life!
