These people are SHARKS & SCAMMERS! They are unethical and deceiving!
Illegal, and Fraudulent Business Practice - STAY AWAY.
This company has been reported to the State of Florida Attorney General’s office, Better Business Bureau, the Department of Insurance, social media platforms and local Law Enforcement!I feel compelled to alert our community and share my recent experience with R&R Roofing and repairs, LLC d/b/a TOPROOFERS. They boldly try to CHEAT and EXTORT people and when confronted about the facts so be prepared for the LEGAL THREATS. They are unethical, dishonest, and have demonstrated a blatant disregard for honesty and transparency.
Here is my experience... We needed assistance with replacing our roof. We decided to go with this company believing that they would provide the necessary help in a professional and trustworthy manner. This was not the case! Instead, they attempted to INTIMIDATE, MANIPULATE and EXTORT us by using an (AOB) assignment of benefits and a modified contract as leverage. Both documents were intentionally omitting information CRITICAL to protecting the homeowner’s rights and interests. Unfortunately, we were persuaded to sign these documents.
The contract was edited in a way that lacked transparency, and intentionally withheld details that would result in a disadvantage to the homeowner by concealing very important information such as timing to rescind the contract, contractor responsibilities, verbiage specifically pertaining to the misleading nature of the project notifying the customer that they are signing away the right of their insurance claim to a third party in this case R&R Roofing and repairs, LLC d/b/a TOPROOFERS and giving them FULL CONTROL of the policy and claims process. Authorizing them to file claims, make repair decisions, assign themselves as the payee, endorse and collect payments directly from the insurance company without the consent or permission of the policy holder.
PLEASE BE ADVISED that as of January 2023 an assignment of benefits (AOB) is illegal and cannot be used for policies that began or were renewed after January 2023. Thankfully ours fell within those dates and we were protected by this law! Thank you, Governor DeSantis! Our 1st interaction was a free inspection:
Carlos came to our home to provide us with a free inspection and estimate. We agreed he would send us an estimate after the inspection he performed, but we never received one. The next day we called our insurance company to report the damages he found on our roof.Carlos reached out to us a few times and was very persistent about coming out to place a tarp on our roof. We declined for several valid reasons. Unaware of his intentions we mentioned the adjustor was coming out to assess the damage he found during his inspection. Carlos then offered to meet the adjuster here so he can show him the damage he found during his inspection. Carlos was a no show. We didn't even bother calling him because we found that very unprofessional.
1st RED FLAG!
We received a call from Carlos at 8:30 p.m. asking us how it went with the adjuster. By this point we had a feeling something was off. We then reminded him to send us the estimate and a copy of the documents signed since we never received a copy. We asked him a few questions about the project and a ballpark figure. He quoted around $25k I immediately thought this was highway robbery. It’ the first time, we ever replaced a roof and were unexperienced. Although we received an estimate from a different company prior to this one around $13k. We expressed that that $25k is incredibly expensive, and he replied that it's because we are going thru the insurance vs $13k paying out of pocket. We were so confused and bothered and told him we would proceed with the project ONLY if they gave us the out-of-pocket price.
Obviously, we were no longer interested in doing business with them and told him we did not want to proceed with the project based on the conversation we just had, work had not commenced, a start date was still not agreed upon, and an estimate or a copy of the contract was still not provided to us. It was more of an obligation, and he made it known that we were not going to get out of the project because we signed a contract. We completely lost all trust in this company. This was the moment when I understood everything that was happening was done under misleading circumstances. AOB abuse has created a crisis of inflated insurance claims over over recent years, costs eventually passed along to all homeowners. Companies like this is the reason why Florida has been experiencing an increase in insurance rates. -

This is a family owned local company. They were prompt in coming out to do our free estimate & offered the most reasonable price of the various estimates we obtained. They replaced all the wood that was damaged and corrected issues created by the previous roofers. Their clean up was exceptional. They went over the property a few times to make sure they picked up any debris that may have been left over after done. The roof was completed in 2 day and it looks beautiful. I highly recommend this company for your roofing needs.
