    New Roof
    $5,500

I was ripped off by this contractor being mislead on this site and another one. When I hired Mr. Yates he had nothing but 5 star reviews on both sites claiming he was excellent. He did do my work, but poorly. I have had multiple issues and spent twice as much as I should have to help finally stop my roof from leaking and the additional damage by going to a reputable contractor.

Please check his 5 star reviews, and please do go to the PA court website and check the multiple judgments and also the recently (May 2019) felony charges for fraud and deceptive business practices.

Repair roof and replace gutters and doownspouts
    $6,900

Jeff Yates will fleece you for every dollar he can get out of you upfront until you realize that the only time he shows up is to collect money. He uses multiple excuses as to why he can’t show up and complete the work. I won a judgement against him in civil court and there is no way in hell that he earned all the 5 ratings and satisfactory comments. That’s not who he is. There are common themes that everyone who he scammed money out of share. The main examples are the excuses, poor work and shorty materials. Many victims never received phone calls or any communication once he had their money. Believe me, I’m just getting started!!!

The worst ever. Contacted Jeff Yates October in 2017. He came and did the roof. Roof still leaking. It's June 15th 2018. I'm still contacting him but he gave excuses after excuses. Now he's not answering my calls, he's avoiding me!

Yates Contracting has been servicing the Pittsburgh area for well over 24 years in most cases we welcome feedback and always try to address any issues that may arise from an unsatisfied customer. We offer warranties on all our work from repairs to full replacement. From time to time we are placed in the position to where we are given feedback from individuals that do not want to accept the fact they need the roof replaced. We take the position that some people will just not take our advice and do the necessary actions we advise. Many times we stress to the customer that they have to seriously consider and pay for a total roof replacement... we understand and accept the fact that some people just can't afford such...placed in the position of seeing the obvious cause of their leak or problem we are left with offering a repair because of a customers financial situation.. after much research into the facts of this particular customer a full replacement offer and estimate was given only to be instructed to perform a minimal repair at a much lower price the fact is we did offer a short-term warranty on our repair and made two additional visits to the home and have had several talks to which we communicated more than a repair was needed as was stressed from day one.

    Replace roof
    $6,000

Horrible experience. This guy said he would replace the roof but it has been leaking since. He seriously worked for only 4 hours replacing a whole roof! What did he do? He charged me what other roofers were asking and it seems like he just patched it and didn’t do a full replacement.

    Roof

Bought a home, noticed the porch leaking from above. The roof was 3 years old, and I called yates contracting to come out and take a look at the work they did, since they did the whole roof 3 years prior. Gave me the whole go around about how the old homeowner undercut and didn't pay them enough for what they did, which, how is that my problem? It was back and forth, he told me he'd come out and take a look at it after a "big job" in virginia. I called him 13-14 times in that month, never picked up, never called back. Knocked out the wall that was close to the look to find dry rot and water damage from the roof. Insurance wouldn't cover because of "poor workmanship" from the roofing contractor. So take the insurances' advice and stay away from the "poor workmanship" and unreliability of this yinzer contractor.

We always encourage and respect feedback but unfortunately this particular fellow never did a contract with Yates contracting and is somehow complaining about or company... this particular house that he bought we roofed three years earlier to which the old owner did exercise their warranty with us 2 and half years earlier. We went out to property 2 additional times only to find out the problem was the siding was not installed correctly by the people who had done the job many many years before. We actually hired a third party roofing company to make a third visit to verify our findings. We sincerely honored our warranty and went to extreme lengths to find at what the problem was. We informed them they needed to address the people that installed the siding. Sometimes the real facts are tough on people to find out. but again we did not do business with this person leaving this complaint and we do not transfer our warranties.. we would politely request to have such a Negative publishing removed.

I am the ex-wife of a 30-year retired police officer I take what I find out about companies very serious and I almost did not do business with Yates Brothers but after doing a lot of research on other roofing companies and my own personal research on Yates I decided to contract my personal home and two of my rental properties. I have been very pleased with their work and give them a big thumbs up I have already referred my family and friends....Good guys.

Jeff Yates and his crew did a wonderful job and I am thoroughly pleased with my new roof and the painting he did. They were always courteous, on time, did what they said they would do, when they were supposed to do it and were always extremely professional. there are always two sides to any story, I suggest all should keep this in mind when reading these bad reviews!!! Mr. Yates also did a great job on my elderly mother-in-law's roof and home repairs, fair pricing and beautiful work!!!

    Painting front porch
    $800

DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR!! Mine and my husband's experience with Jeff Yates and his "crew" was by far the most ridiculous, irresponsible, disrespectful and horrible experience we've ever had to deal with. I'll start from day one. The job was our front porch being painted, which actually was a gift from my parents for our wedding anniversary. Our porch is about 20x8, so not very big at all. I come home from work around 7pm and Jeff, his 10 year old son and Phil were getting started with the job. No problem. Jeff seemed like a great, friendly guy. One thing I thought was weird, was that his 10 year old son was painting....Jeff made a comment that it was just the first coat so he was letting his son help. Ok, a little unprofessional since this was supposed to be a $800 professional paint job, but, I brushed it off. They finished up around 10:30pm. It was obviously dark out by then so it was hard to see the complete finished product. From what we could see, it looked good. Jeff said they were pretty much finished but assured and promised us that he was going to come back first thing the next morning to look at it in the daylight and do any kind of touch ups. He actually said "When people ask you who did your porch, I want to you to be able to proudly give them my name". We gave Jeff the remainder of the money we owed him. (We had already given him a deposit). So, the next morning, my husband and I are leaving for work and get a chance to see the porch in the daylight. There were brush strokes on the railings where you could still see the old, brown paint, there were parts on the stairs that were just blatantly not done at all, and there was paint on the vinyl siding of our house. Since Jeff said he was coming back the next day, we weren't too worried since we figured he would see these mistakes, and fix them. Little did we know that this would be the start of A MONTH LONG BATTLE to get Jeff back to finish the job that HE WAS PAID FOR. From the day after they were there which was Monday, June 19th 2017, to mid July it was a living hell. Not only did Jeff not show up the next day as he had promised, he, for the next 2 weeks, would give us excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't come. First it was unreliable crew members, then it was other "more important" jobs he had to do, most times he wouldn't even give a reason at all for not showing up. By this point, my dad, husband and I were all texting him and trying to get this straightened out. He would say, I'll be there, Thursday at 3p, then he would no show. Then the next day he would make some excuse and say I'll be there Tuesday at 12p....another no show. THIRTEEN TIMES. I have texts on my phone where I am pleading with this man to come and finish the job he started and THAT HE WAS PAID FOR. So, one Sunday Jeff called me and said he was on his way to our house now to finish the job. We were not home at this time but told him to please, just go there and finish the job. We got home and there was white paint splattered all over our newly painted brown floor of the porch, on our patio chairs and there were STILL spots that were not painted!!! At this point, we could not even fathom what was going on with this guy. I honestly felt like we were in the twilight zone. My husband called Jeff and asked him "Are you joking?! Do you consider this a complete job??" Jeff acted like he had no idea what we were talking about. It turns out that it was not Jeff that came that day and "finished" our porch, but his crew member Phil. I'm guessing that out of spite, Phil took the paint brush and splattered paint everywhere and did a shitty job. At this point we threatened to sue and actually got the authorities involved. For whatever Godforsaken reason, this guy COULD NOT or WOULD NOT come and complete our porch. We were done. After some not very nice exchange of words over the phone, we told Jeff to leave the cans of paint on our porch and we would finish the job ourselves. I still have the text messages on my phone and plan to use them to warn people via social media to PLEASE do not give this man your money. Like I said, I'm 32 years old and have NEVER dealt with a more unprofessional, unethical and disreputable situation in my life. I'm putting this on here to warn people to NOT TRUST JEFF YATES or his "worker", Phil. They are dishonest, disloyal, and in my eyes, they stole money from us by not completing a job they were paid to do. What also makes this ten times worse is the fact that this was a gift from my parents for our wedding anniversary, which Jeff knew, and he STILL put us through hell and back. Don't waste a dime or a second of our your time with this company.
