Kitchen & bathroom remodel, tiling throughout the house.

Our encounter with R2 Realty Restoration was marked by a sequence of unfortunate events which underscore the company’s alarming lack of integrity. In March 2022, we embarked on two renovation contracts for our bathrooms and kitchen. Despite initial assurances of covering bathroom materials, such as tiles, we chose to expedite the process by sourcing our own materials, with a promise of reimbursement—a promise unfulfilled.

Initially, their work schedule exhibited promise, with a designated window of 8:30-9am until 2pm. However, as time passed, punctuality eroded, culminating in late arrivals around 11am and even days of unexplained absence. A third contract, intended to extend tiling throughout our home, escalated from June to December 2022, accompanied by a family relocation and pet displacement in October 2022, as extensive work rendered our kitchen unusable.

Upon our return in November, we encountered an unforeseen mouse infestation, demanding substantial expenses to address. Furthermore, our specific cabinet requirements were disregarded, leading to an outcome that requires additional spending to rectify. Essential appliance installations were delayed until January 2023, rendering our kitchen inaccessible for four months—a very difficult situation to be in with a 2yo.

Communication breakdowns further compounded our concerns, as sporadic appearances in February gave way to zero appearances and silence until mid-April, during which time our permit expired without any notice by our contractors, nor the main office. When we discovered the discrepancy on our own and flagged it with the main office, they seemed to treat it as if it were or no consequence, but gave us the form to get notarized and return to them after we said we required our remodel to be legal per county regulations. The conclusion of the bathroom contract in April was marred by the contractor’s refusal to honor a specific contractual item, pushing us to consider yet another contract—despite its clear inclusion in the original agreement. In an effort to expedite matters, we procured additional materials for the “4th contract,” which was never presented, forcing us engage another company to complete tasks within R2’s purview.

Communication with the main office yielded indifference, denying our request for an additional contractor despite the primary one’s incapacitation. Stagnation persisted as we awaited the main contractor’s engagement, leading to disappointment as promises went unfulfilled. After a 15-week hiatus, our other contractor who had quit the company due to the financial constraints while waiting on the main contractor, was tasked with completing the job. To our dismay, several crucial items were missing. Communication with the main contractor, who was discovered to also no longer work for the company, revealed a breach of trust as he dismissed items that were unequivocally part of the contract.

Efforts to resolve this with Austin, their representative, culminated in his visit to review the contracts. Despite acknowledging missing items were indeed written in the contract, Austin requested payment for their completion—asking us to pay twice. While their craftsmanship was commendable, a multitude of obligations remained unfulfilled, often dismissed as not within the contract’s scope—a contradiction to our year-long discussions and what was written on the papers we all signed.

The company’s inability to adhere to timelines, deviations from agreements, and a profound lack of accountability cast a shadow on our experience. R2’s failure to monitor employees and lack of transparent communication led to a year-and-a-half-long project due to employee absenteeism. R2 Realty Restoration’s approach to customer satisfaction is deeply disappointing, failing to prioritize timely execution, communication, adherence to laws, and demand to be paid twice in order to fulfill their contractual obligations, leaves us profoundly dissatisfied.
