Our deck rebuild was started in September 2016. Ron said he completed the project in November and was paid in full. The deck boards were left way too far apart, so we decided to have it inspected. The deck was completely out of code and failed inspection. He received a letter from our township with the failed codes and said he would make it right. This was in July 2017 that he finally showed up again. He came back maybe 3 times to dig holes and tear down the ramp that was out of code. Since then, he has refused to come back and complete the job. Our deck is completely unusable, as we do not have stairs or a ramp to get down to the yard. He basically took our money and ran, and we have are now having to pay another contractor to fix what he messed up. He is not a reliable contractor, and he does not follow city and township codes. He also is on "his" time. Will come for a couple of hours at a time, leaving screws and food/drink trash all over your yard. Has no regard as to how long the project takes and how much of an inconvenience it is to the homeowner. It would be one thing if it was done right, but to have it done completely wrong, there is no reason for it taking almost a year for a completed deck.
