Randy Johnson and his crew do very good work when then get on the job. We hired Randy to tear out our old deck and replace it with a new deck and roof. Immediately upon hiring him for the work he needed money for materials which we provided. Well, 2 days into the job he complained about material prices taking a big jump. I guess this spooked him so he chose not to buy material with the money we gave him. His crew came by to work on the teardown of the old deck. That was done fairly quickly. Once again he complained about material prices. He brought some posts and cement in to begin the buildout of the new deck. We agreed to split the increase of the material he needed and gave him more money. Well, our 2 week job is now at week 9. Randy has been paid for much of the material he needed and money for labor for his crew. Randy will not hold to any commitment on coming back to finish off the project. In the last 10 days I have called and text him repeatedly and he won't contact me back. We are very happy with the work he has done but am not impressed with the lack of contact or maintaining his schedule. We have been told he moved on to frame out a custom home. So, our deck sits 90% finished and no plan to finish it. Randy left tool and haul off items all over our yard. Not happy! If you want your project finished on time it appears you need to map out a schedule with Randy and have a financial penalty for running behind. That would be the only thing that would motivate him to stay with your project. Good luck.
