While the overall experience was somewhat satisfactory, I have to state that tile installer did a very poor job. Rather than remove the excess thin set from between the tile joints, the installer chose to grout over these joints, allowing the thin set color to bleed through the grout. I now have many areas where the white thin set color has caused a white discoloration in the bone colored grout.
In addition, a bath tub should never have seams that are filled with grout. Instead, caulking should have been used. As a result, the grout is cracking and is now flaking off into the tub. I provided the proper color caulk to the installer, but it was never used. I now have to remove the remaining grout and use caulk to seal the tub seams. I had to pay twice for this caulk. Once for the job that the tiler was supposed to do and again to correct the job that was not done.
I chose to install a new bathroom (custom made) vanity myself. The dimensions were made available to the carpenters. Instead of leaving an opening that would accept the new vanity, they trimmed the baseboard in accordance with the dimensions of the old vanity (the new vanity had to be special ordered). I gave them explicit instructions on what the new vanity dimensions were, yet they chose to leave a clearance based upon the old vanity dimensions.
On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the best), I would rate this job at a 4. Maybe it is my own fault. Maybe I should have "Micro Managed" their performance.
I know how to install tile. I worked for a major tile supplier for a well known big box home improvement store for almost 10 years. Even before I was "set loose" upon the stores in my region, I had to prove that I knew how to properly install tile. Ray Guida's tile installer failed miserably.
I also have a family member who is a Master Carpenter. If he was not busy with another project, I would have hired him to do this bathroom remodel. When he saw the job that was done, he literally laughed.
It all boils down to the old saying that "You get what you pay for". In all honesty, I will never hire Ray Guida & Sons again.
