I've never written a bad review of any company even though I've had negative experiences from time to time like everyone else. This company's total lack of pride in work product and failure to perform the work promised has inspired me to write my first negative review in 20 years of home remodeling.
I paid over $9000 for Ray Kamstra Construction to repair walls in a 1200 square foot home in preparation for paint. For that much they could have installed new drywall in nearly the whole place. Instead, they actually skim coated joint compound over completely loose wall paper and plaster. Light hand pressure would cave in the walls they "repaired". Where new drywall was installed the tape job was as sloppy as I've ever seen, screws were left with no joint compound to cover them, tapered edges of the new drywall sheets were installed up against baseboards and not even filled to make them flat. Areas were found where short screws were used that didn't even reach the structure underneath. Instead of removing window and door trim to install new drywall underneath, they roughly cut the new drywall to get close to the trim but didn't fill the gaps that were sometimes greater than 1/2" wide. All these areas will fail and crack. When contacted to fix this mess Ray Kamstra said he was paid so the job is done. I have an abundance of pictures and video if anyone from this company wishes to dispute any of my claims.
