Not sure how my experience was so different from the other reviews but I would recommend anyone to stay far away from employing Ray to do their floors.

I had about 1000 sqft of hardwood floors installed and a set of stairs replaced. There were so many things that went wrong that I don't even know where to begin:

    1. Ray gaslighted me the whole time with how long the project would take. Before the job was started, he came and assessed my place and said it would be done in three to five days and he could get started on Monday. He didn't get started until Tuesday. I went on vacation for a week and fully expected the project to be done by the time I got back. I came back on Monday and it wasn't even close to being done. I asked him when it would be done - he said Thursday. Well Thursday rolls around, I go to the place, and it's still not done. I asked him for another update, this time he said Friday, the day I was set to move in and had cleaners coming. Finally, Friday afternoon it was "done" (more on this later).

    2. Quality of workmanship was terrible. There was so many things wrong here. I didn't see many of them until after they had left. The smooth solid-color hardwood floors had many scratches. There were attempts to cover them up with wood stain or something but it's very noticeable. What was left all over the whole house were very-visible uneven stain marks with scratches in them. If you rubbed your fingers or any clothes or furniture on it, it would stain. There are spots around the house where the hardwood floor is uneven or had gaps where debris/dust gets trapped. I had existing spindles that needed to be put back in and the holes were haphazardly drilled in, with the holes being way too big for the spindles, which means more gaps for debris/dirt to fall into. One of the spindles was even bent to fit into a hole that was misaligned. When the stairs were stained, they didn't bother putting painter's tape down so my white stair stringers were messily painted over. I'm not talking small edges that can be easily paint corrected - this is dark wood stain messily applied all over like a monkey did it. I also had single stair steps in two other spots and they removed the previous stair risers and didn't bother to add new ones. What's left are the uneven bare wood that had been nailed into previously and unfilled gaps in the tile flooring and walls around the step and left over caulk/adhesive residue. They just half-assedly painted the uneven bare wood white and left the gaps as they are. Not to mention the messily applied wood stain on the stair treads/nosing on my walls.

    3. He left damage everywhere while installing the floors. He actually broke a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms. One of the blades of the ceiling fan was almost off the fan and the metal housing that held the blade in was ripped apart. I didn't see this until after they left because they didn't finish staining the stairs until the last second so upstairs wasn't accessible. He didn't say anything about it and I noticed after I waited the hour they said to wait to let the stair stain sealant dry. I called him up after and he said he would reimburse me for the cost of replacing it. However, after being gaslighted multiple times to meet up to get the cash, it's clear he has no intention to get me the money. At this point, he is just ignoring me. $250 down the drain. In addition, he left multiple gouges in the walls and even a 6 inch gouge in middle of a bedroom door. Just a cherry on top, one of the upstairs bathroom's sink faucets handle came clean off the sink.

Throughout this whole process, there was no communication from Ray about falling behind schedule, the destroyed ceiling fan, or anything. His behavior can be summed up as gaslighting and unprofessional and his craftsmanship as shoddy. Again, I would recommend staying away from using Ray's Flooring LLC. Don't waste your hard earned money.

Ray and his partner who completed the carpet removal and new engineered hardwood floors in our home were spot on. They removed the carpet, picked up the new material and installed the glue down hardwood floors exactly as they informed us within a two and half day period. We were extremely satisfied with their quality of work, knowledge, cleanliness while working and speed of service. We would recommend Ray’s Flooring, LLC to anyone.
