I hired them to do an addition that was a bedroom and full bath. They didn't want to put anything in writing but I drew it up and they signed it. Their bid was for labor and I paid for materials. First we ordered a lot of material. They bought more every day that I had to meet them at the store to pay. After they started they added more to the cost for plumbing and electric. Then informed me that they don't do heat. I had to hire an electrician. The whirlpool tub and shower seemed to confuse them. I had to hire a plumber. They did a lot of digging to the septic tank which was needed, however, the ground sunk where they filled it in and they didn't repair it. They assured me that the tub surround was securely glued to the wall, it is not. The roof has a slight angle. They put on a rubber roof, it leaked. They put another rubber roof over it, it still leaked. They shingled half of the existing roof and the new roof, finally no leaks. I wouldn't pay for three roofs so they paid for the third one. They did not want to do cleanup, but, I wouldn't pay them until they did it. They purchased about $2,000 more material than they needed. I can return what fits in my car. They were supposed to come back to put up a medicine cabinet and take the large items to be returned. They did not come back and do not respond to my calls or messages. To their credit I will say they are good carpenters, other than roofing, they show up everyday at eight and work hard until five. They are very polite and respectful. I would recommend them for small jobs. If you pay for material separate from labor, make sure they don't order more than they need. Also, they speak Spanish and I don't, so it was difficult to communicate with them. I gave them two stars instead of one because they showed up every day and worked hard until the job was done. They didn't inform me of the things they couldn't do until after they had started the job.
