Person Responsible
This general contractor was an electrician that wanted to become a home builder. I fired him after a carpenter I hired and an extremely experienced older builder kept agreeing on his mistakes.
He was very defensive.
He did the foundation up to the stage of electrical rough in as well as half the siding on the house.
We had to undo the siding since the strapping wasn't to code and it look terrible. The trusses were not secured properly according to the engineering instructions (I'm not sure if Marty read them or he knows how)
An entire wall was not secured even close to well enough, it wasn't supporting the trusses (according to the engineering drawing) and there was no header put above a 9' wide sliding glass door, it could have fallen and seriously hurt someone. His interior framing was very poor, some had to be redone and some was incomplete.
The window install was not centered, there was no blocking done, the corners were not done properly, the electrical work (He's a red seal electrician) had safety and code violations, the flashing and soffit where poorly done (No screw, falling off in a couple weeks, safety concern).
He would hire random guys off of Facebook and then leave them unsupervised charging $60 and paying $35 for bad employees.
He lied to the building inspector and consciously cut corners then clamed he was trying to save me money. "I told him I'd pay for better than minimum work, this was my future forever home."
ect, ect, ect.
He claims I owe him $48k but it has cost more than that to fix his mistakes.
