I've had the pleasure to work with Renew Home Improvement (RHI) on a couple of projects ranging from small fixes to bathroom renovation. Scott has always been extremely professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. I have a couple more projects lined up that I plan to hire RHI for. I would definitely recommend to anyone!

By AnonymousJune 21, 2019Rehab$56,000
I hired Renew Home Improvements (RHI) to do a rehab to a property. The rehab included installing a new roof, painting the entire exterior of the house, installing a new front porch, re-designing three full bathrooms, painting the interior of the house, building a walk-in closet, and carpeting the basement & bedrooms. Everything was completed to my satisfaction, and in an acceptable amount of time. The project went a little over budget, but everything was pretty reasonable. I was more concerned about the quality of the work completed, and the project finishing on schedule, than I was about the final cost of everything, so this was not a huge issue for me, but I could see someone else being caught off guard by the significant difference in the final cost when compared to the quote. Overall, finding reliable contractors can be very difficult, and RHI is a trustworthy company so I would definitely recommend them to anyone, and I actually just hired them to do another, smaller, project for me.

Renew is a single person company. Scott did a good job on the final project, though it was finished 2 weeks late due to casual planning.

By Teri S.February 11, 2019bathroom remodel, electrical work, additional projects
Scott Mitchell from Renew Home Improvements is incredibly professional and does outstanding work. I contacted him with a laundry list of necessary home repairs (to include bathroom remodeling, electrical work, painting, etc.) to prepare my house for sale. Scott was very responsive with thoughtful suggestions, excellent prices, and expertly completed the repairs in an extremely timely manner. He was as thorough and professional with the smallest projects as he was with the larger remodeling project, making him a true pleasure to work with. These improvements allowed my house to be sold at 5K over the asking price within 2 days. I highly recommend Renew Home Improvements for any large or small projects!

By ApOctober 17, 2017Double Vanity Install, Door Repair, Light Fixture Installation$3,200
I had a number of tasks performed in preparing and updating my house for sale. These included installing a double vanity, running plumbing, and installing a quartz top with sinks and faucets, repair of exterior door trim, and installation of a number of light fixtures. Scott had great attention to the little details and made sure items that were not correct by the builders or previous owners were corrected and done properly. Overall, a great experience and very helpful.

Renew Home Improvement took my old small kitchen and made it larger by opening up the wall between the kitchen and dining room. He also made my pantry into a powder room. The job end out nice, but took longer then planned.

By Joanne E.December 21, 2016Verified Hirebathroom remodeling project
I would never recommend this contractor. My '3' week bathroom remodel took 10 weeks. He would show up for 2-3 hours & then leave, not come back for a few days. I had purchased almost all of the new supplies (vanity, tile, paint, mirror, shower door, & faucets) All the supplied were at my home just waiting for him to do the work. Three times I had to order my vanity counter due to his not paying attention to my project. I think out of the 10 weeks it took him he only worked 3 6-7 hour days. The last day he worked to finish the job was one of the 'long' days. Now after using the bathroom I am finding some very bad workmanship. This has been emotionally a very bad experience.
Response from Renew Home Improvements October 26, 2017Written contract for bathroom remodel was signed by all parties. Per MHIC Contract guidelines, contract did specify work to be completed in three weeks. Clients did pick up fixtures, minus the tub that Contractor purchased FREE of charge to the clients. Clients also selected a countertop ahead of schedule, two weeks prior to the job start. Contractor had explained the countertop must be selected and reserved AFTER the job started, as it was critical to have the proper measurements, and because the company only reserves remnants for a week. The top was sold to another party before the job even started. Clients went and picked up another countertop from the same company. After the clients made their selection, the countertop company informed all parties that delivery was 3 ½ weeks out due to the holidays. Contractor discussed this with the clients and made sure to ask if they want to go with a different company to avoid the delay. CLIENTS CHOSE TO WAIT. Unfortunately, when the company delivered the top, the sink was cut out in the wrong place. The company acknowledged their fault and expedited a new top in five days, virtually delaying the job by 4 ½ weeks altogether. The Owner of Renew Home Improvements was not always present on the job, but his workers were, performing the demo, installing concrete board and tile, prepping walls, and painting. At the final walkthrough, clients still were not concerned with the length of the entire project. Their complaint was in regards to the cost of an item they added to the contract, in a separate change order addendum. The change order was executed and signed by the clients. To alleviate their concern, Contractor agreed and did rebate the cost of the item in full as well as waived the $100 change order fee for the additional item. Buildzoom review was written before Contractor heard anything back from the clients regarding any issues. They never reached out to the Contractor even though contracts do specify clients can call back up to a year to address any issues with the job. More importantly, Contractor performed all the following above and beyond the contract, FREE of charge: installed cabinet on countertop, installed and painted four cabinet doors, installed special glass sliding doors on tub, patched ceiling downstairs in the hallway, all of which would total $900. Contractor was happy to help out since the job did take longer than expected. The delay was discussed several times and Contractor was told each time that it was not an issue for the clients. -
