    INTERIOR CARPENTERS: RENEW IT GROUP IS NOT!
    Our experience with RENEW IT GROUP was much different than that of the elated homeowners of new decks. And though we had every expectation that we would be happy with LOWE’s carpenters, dry-wall installers and tilers in our six to eight week long kitchen and bath remodel project, we unfortunately learned too late that LOWE'S contracted with RENEW IT GROUP's "general contractor" to oversee our project by "their best interior carpenters" who 1) did not frame in the rooms to the dimensions on the work order i.e. a standard size refrigerator will never fit; 2) failed to level and set the steel tub in place prior to tiling the bathroom floor i.e. tile is askew with a noticeable widening gap; 3) sheets of drywall were dropped during installation but installed in jagged-puzzle-fitting-pieces resulting in the poorly skilled taping and mudding becoming more apparent with each coat of paint that was applied i.e. several skim coating repairs later the lack of proper adherence of the drywall to the ceiling joist and wall studs became apparent as the drywall seams cracked necessitating the need to remove, replace, refinish and repaint around the nearly completed bathroom; 4) installed vanity wall tile three times before matching the decorative stripes to align i.e. installer acknowledged on the first installation that he “knew it didn’t match but I had a 50-50 chance (the homeowner) wouldn’t notice;” the second installation resulted in the tiles that had been three inches too high were three inches too low and, again, the homeowner noticed; the third installation by a second tiler was exactly right; unfortunately, the over-seeing carpenter grouted the properly aligned tile installation with the wrong color grout and during the process disposed of the grouting water down the newly installed stainless steel kitchen sink which was damaged by the gritty residue resulting in more repairs and replacements , vice-president of RENEW IT GROUP acknowledged the substantial difference in hues and repairs proceeded; a hand-held rotary blade grinder cut out the lighter grout and damaged glass tiles to be replaced a fourth time; I think, I failed to mention that no attempt was made to protect the rest of the two-floor residence from flying grout dust that then required LOWE’S to hire a restoration crew to clean the entire house; but the tile and grout were right; 5) were unable to install the two-mountings-screw cabinet handles without damaging seven drawer faces and boxes in the kitchen and, three weeks later, install the same style handles without drilling three and four holes in each of eight drawers and four doors in the bathroom i.e. combined cost of $3500.00 for cabinet replacement parts plus six-week delivery delay; and 6) RENEW IT GROUP quit the job after six months and walked away leaving LOWE’s to find another contractor willing to repair and finish what RENEW IT GROUP left behind. Believe me when I write there really are more sad and irritating stories to this “one-year and still counting the weeks before LOWE’s finishes our home improvement saga.” Needless to reiterate further is that RENEW IT GROUP’s “best interior carpenters” are best left outside doing someone else’s deck.

    Renew it Group was wonderful to work with! Very skilled, experienced, professional and trustworthy. Dustin's deck design was exactly what we were looking for and their execution in building it was detailed and thorough. Definitely, recommend Renew-it for decks or backyard improvement projects.
