paid Don for bathroom remodel. He required 50% up front to start the project. minimal work done and he has disappeared with my money & materials
I paid this man Don to remodel my bathroom. He required 50% up front to start the project which was supposed to be completed the weekend of August 16, 2020. He also required some more money up front to pay beyond the 50% deposit for custom items I was getting that he was supposed to purchase wholesale. (Custom Argon gas double pane window, Granite, Customer shower doors, and a custom closet shelving system. His crew did not show up on the day he scheduled the demo (Wednesday August 12, 2020). He then sent another "crew" the following day (Thursday August 13, 2020) to do the demo. The following day, Friday August 14, 2020) his "crew" was supposed to come back and start putting everything back together. People showed up to deliver some materials that I had already ordered & paid for separately (floor tile, bath tub, and materials for a pocket door) This crew then sat in front of my home for over and hour and then left. No work was done. Don then tells me, it will be the following weekend before someone can get out because his crew got caught up on another job. The following weekend, came and went. The only person that showed up was a random plumber Don sent out to set the tub. This guy had never worked with Don before. The following weekend, he had an unfinished custom vanity, the wood only, delivered and installed. The same day, he told me the granite counter top was to be delivered, cut onsite and installed. Nobody showed. A plumber was supposed to come back out after the granite was installed to set the sinks and do the plumping, reinstall toilet. Nobody showed. Don did minimal work & has now disappeared into the wind. He will not respond to any attempts at communication for a resolution or refund, and will not deliver the materials I purchased through him. I paid him $ 10,000 & was left with a demolished bathroom and an unpainted vanity. I had to pay someone else to come finish the job that I original already paid for. I am a single mother of 2 (12 and 3yrs)

After further research, I found MULTIPLE other complaints, cases, judgement etc. for the same thing spanning over multiple years. Deceptive Business Practices, Fraud, Theft etc. He is a criminal!

Don Childers, the man behind this organization and any other listed with the 214-850-5426 and 214-707-9094 phone numbers and [email protected] email address......Allstar, Renovation Experts, The Don Childers Group LLC, Don Childers Construction, is a thief, a cheat, a liar, a fraud, and a crook! He only pretends that he's a contractor capable of providing good service. He was referred to us through an online contractor service to perform a popcorn ceiling removal and wall texturing & painting project. My wife and I were cheated and misled by Don Childers when he visited our residence on Sat Sept 23rd to provide an estimate and to validate that our tight project timeline could be met. He claimed that "my crew" and "my guys" could start the job on the morning of Thurs, Sept 28th, and finish by end of day on Tue Oct 3rd.

On Tue Sept 26th when Don Childers informed us that "his crew" were starting on the morning of Thurs Sept 28th, I sent a domestic wire transfer from my bank to his in the amount of $4,500....a deposit for the $8,500 total project quote. He assured us that he had a big crew and a manager named Dan. The reality is, he DOES NOT have a crew. He simply called around to find someone he could hire to do the job we hired HIM and his company for.

By Fri Sept 29th at 5pm, and 3 random individuals showing up at our residence later, Don Childers still had no one to start the project. I learned that the 3 individuals who showed up at the residence between Thurs Sept 28th and Fri Sept 29th were random painters whom Don Childers had no relationship with, nor did he know. He somehow found them and tried to sub contract the job that we hired HIS company to do for us. He had NO crew, he had NO manager! The person who he referred to as his manager (Dan) was a painter who didn't even know Don Childers, and was simply contacted by him with a project offer. On Fri Sept 29th I asked Don for a refund, which he said would be wired back to my checking account on Monday Oct 2nd. I gave Don Childers a 5:00pm Mon Oct 2nd deadline to contact me and make the refund arrangements, which to no surprise he has ignored. Since Fri Sept 29th at 5:15 pm, he has not responded to my texts (which show that he read them), my emails and my voice mails. I have asked Don Childers to resolve this matter in a prompt and professional manner, which he has not.This thief simply took our $4,500 and disappeared.

I hope that anyone looking for honest contractors and good service sees this review and avoids this crook at all cost! I learned that my wife and I are two of several individuals in the DFW area who have been cheated by and stolen from by Don Childers!! You can find their reviews on here, Yelp, BBB and other sites.

This company Owner, Don Childers will take your money and run. He was hired to do a window job, took my money, didn't complete the job, and continued to miss appointments and never complete the work, then had the audacity to tell me to hire someone else to finish, cause he's too busy, but has failed to refund my money!

Worst experience of my life! I wish I could give negative stars. The owner Don Childers of Renovation Experts, has no problem taking your money, but then pushes you off for over a month. When they finally come out to do the job and replace and seal my windows, they do such an awful job. I have huge finger sized gaps in my windows for water, bugs, and everything else to find itself into my home.

After weeks of no shows, and leaving work early, he finally sends one of his guys out to fix the issue, even his own employee that came back out, thought I had did it myself, because it was done so poorly. Then his worker goes outside to call him, to confirm that they actually were the one's that did the work, because he couldn't believe it, and the guy calls Don and then gets in his car and drives away. I call the owner asking what happened and he said, "Oh my guy said it was fine, just needed to be re-caulked". I explained what HIS guy told me, and then he says "He doesn't know, he isn't a window guy" Why on earth would you send someone to fix my windows that wasn't a window guy, and seemed to be the ONLY person that knew what they were talking about. Once again, more lies from this guy.

A few days later, he sends me a text message and tells me to hire someone else to finish the work, because "They are too busy and don't have time" I already paid him $800, which he had no problem making time to come and get from me. He has now failed to return any of my calls or messages in regards to this matter, after a Month of dealing with leaving work early, missed appointments, and over all horrible service.

As the owner of a company, you think that he would want to get out to his job sites when a customer has a concern to see what his employee's are doing to represent his business. Not once did he ask to come out or step foot on my property again after taking my money.

I have never in all my life dealt with a company or owner who could care less about his customer or the service he provided. If you care about your home, time, money, and overall sanity, I would NOT use this company!
