Would we recommend Gallo Builders to anyone? Absolutely NOT!
There have been a variety of issues with Gallo Builders from beginning to end, which was over a year long process. You might think we just didn’t know what to expect with building a new home, but we have actually done this before with another local builder and had such a fantastic experience that we didn’t think twice about building again. We were not so lucky the second time around with Gallo Builders. All of the details could extend for pages, but the character limit only allows for so many details. However, lack of communication and high levels of miscommunication plagued the building process. Delays were also a significant problem as we were told the build would be 4-5 months and it was actually 9 months long.
Then we hoped it would get better once we actually moved into the house and we looked forward to not having to communicate with anyone from Gallo Builders ever again! However, we were not so lucky as there were still landscaping (delayed because of moving in during the winter) and forgotten items that needed to be addressed after we moved in and we had numerous issues with the house after moving in. Again, we will spare all the details, but here is a summary of the issues with the house since we moved in:
- A leaky tub and faucet that created a waterfall in the kitchen and a significant stain across the kitchen ceiling.
- An AC unit and furnace that were not hooked up correctly.
- Air filters that were clogged within two months and not allowing any air through.
- An air duct fell down from where it had been connected.
- There are areas where the drywall was not sanded correctly and it looks terrible.
- We have a warped kitchen drawer that doesn’t quite close correctly and a bedroom door that had to be sanded down by us so it could close.
- Problems with the water flow from the faucets.
- Significant delays with getting landscaping completed.
- Huge piles of dirt and construction equipment being stored on our property for months after we moved in.
- The landscaping that has been done is awful and is being re-done at our own expense.
- Workers showing up at the house with no notice and expecting we would just be around.
- Six months to finally obtain window screens that were not installed prior to closing on the house, which we were told we would have within a week of closing.
While several of these issues were addressed, the aggravation and stress for a brand new house was not expected and it often took multiple phone calls and e-mails to various individuals to get these issues addressed. We asked multiple times just for a simple timeline of when things would occur (which was something we had from start to finish with our previous builder) and we could never get a straight answer of when anything would occur before or after we moved in. A little bit of communication throughout this process would have greatly reduced our frustration and perhaps changed our perspective of the company overall, but apparently that was too much to ask for.
Instead of being happy to be in our new home, we are constantly waiting for the next thing to go wrong. We strongly recommend that you consider looking elsewhere for your new home as Gallo Builders will only add to your aggravation and instead of apologies or explanations you will get excuses and deflection of responsibility, which I am sure will follow this review in Gallo Builders response!
