“With the kind of involved training we have in Austria,” Robert says, “you have to calculate heating systems, heat loss, and energy loss factors, and you have to calculate the boiler size against the windows and the walls.” What Robert calls a “ground-up” understanding of the science behind radiant heat means that he can assemble the most efficient system possible for any given home. “You need to have the right equipment for the right conditions. If it’s not done the right way, your energy costs can go through the roof because things can be so inefficient,” Horky says. To that end, Horky specializes in high-quality, extra-durable hardware, such as the Energy Star-rated Buderas GB 142 Boiler, manufactured by Bosch. “That’s a high-efficiency boiler,” Horky says. “It’s very quiet in its operation, runs between 90 and 96 percent efficiency, and has a long history of durability.” For radiant additions and replacement systems, Horky likes the top-of-the-line Quik-Trak radiant-heat panels for their low-impact installation and individualized controls. These utilitarian panels, says Horky, are laid on the home’s concrete-slab foundation, and become the sub-floor.
“You can literally just put carpet or hardwood over it and you don’t have to do anything else,” he says. “Plus, each room can be controlled by its own thermostat. That saves energy costs because you only heat up the rooms you actually need.” After more than 20 years in the radiant-heat trade and with some 70 Eichler projects under his belt, Horky’s experience matches his high caliber training. And based on his interest and experience, the ambitious engineer has lofty goals for the future. “I would love to install a complete solar integrated heating system or a geothermal system into any home,” he says. “That would be my dream.” If anybody can do it, Robert Horky can.

I really needed to replace my water boiler system and after being referred to by my neighbor I gave RH Hydronics a call. They were very friendly and professional since the first call, they came by my home the same day and checked it out to see if there was anything they can do to fix it. Luckily, they were very honest and just had to fix the pump, I did not need to replace my whole unit which was music to my ears. They fixed it in no time and it is working perfectly fine! Best company in town for any repairs on your boilers!!!

If you are experiencing problems with your boiler being so loud R H Hydronics is the company to call! It was a necessary replacement and they gave me a great price which made it much easier for me to make the switch. I hate having cold feet while walking around the house, so after finding R H Hydronics I had all my floors heated inside my home. This company is very professional, and the prices are affordable. I just had a great experience using RH Hydronics today. My issue was a boiler that wasn't firing up even though the pilot was on. I called and spoke to RH Hydronics early this morning after finding them online at another review site. The tech explained that he was leaving on a service call but could come to my home in the afternoon. I'm fairly handy and had eliminated some of the most common points of failure but had struck out and figured I needed a pro who's seen it all to diagnose what the problem was. The tech didn't disappoint and had me up and running in short order. Lucky for me that the repair didn't require replacing any parts so in this case he only charged me for a basic service call. Always nice to find a tradesman who knows his stuff and is honest. Was a nice guy to do business with and I'll definitely call him the next time I have a heating issue.

Failed to check their work on what should have been a simple job (shutting off the heating tubes on our second floor) and flooded the downstairs in our home destroying hardwood, tile, and possibly cabinetry. While they came out for the initial cleanup, they have been completely unresponsive with regards to repairs that are needed as a result of their mistake.
Despite admitting fault (in writing), the owner of this company has strung me along for nearly two weeks - failing to return any phone calls and only providing the most limited of email replies. This incident is now likely going to the CA licensing board and will certainly involve an insurance claim.
Avoid RH Hydronics at all costs.

My experience working with RH Hydronics was horrible; it remains horrible. I filed a complaint through the BBB, and he ignored it so it was closed. I've filed a complaint with the California State Licensing Board since the BBB couldn't resolve the problem. His workers in his company installed the Navien boiler incorrectly. They neglected to install a second pump and a secondary loop on the system as per the manufacturer's specifications. They installed the exhaust gas and intake air vent terminals incorrectly; they did NOT follow the manufacturer's installation instructions. When the reversal of the two resulted in a large leak into the boiler from the vent, into the house, onto my brand new hardwood floor, Robert Horky refused to even talk to me on the telephone about the problem, he refused to fix the problem and install the vents correctly. I had to pay $745 for another plumber specializing in Navien boilers to come repair the work that Robert should have fixed, since it was his company that did the work incorrectly in the first place.
I can only hope the CSLB can resolve the problem and get him to reimburse me for the cost of the problems his installation of the boiler caused me.
