    Want to transform your bathroom renovation into a 4+ month exercise in frustration? Contact Richard Hough Construction. After my initial contact with the owner via email on September 21st (he requested photos & measurements rather than doing an onsite evaluation) it took a month to receive a quote…”we attached it to another client’s email” …was the stated reason.
    I wrote Hough a 50% deposit check (huge mistake) for $5075 on November 25, 2024 to “secure my position on his project schedule”. I was told work would begin in 4-6 weeks and would take 2 weeks or less to complete. That’s the last I heard from Richard Hough until I reached out on January 8th (the 6 week mark he provided me as a start point) I asked him for a revised start date and was told 3 weeks. As of January 25, 2025, and not having any update info I sent him an email expressing my frustration and requesting a refund of my deposit.
    Fast forward through 16 days of multiple emails and 16 days of multiple misrepresentations. Both Hough and his office manager implicitly claimed they mailed me a refund on January 30th (from Lancaster, SC to my Rock Hill, SC address. The check arrived today, February 10th (with a postmark of February 7) It was written for $275 less than what they received, due to “admin fees”.
    Richard Hough Construction…..smoke & mirrors….multiple misrepresentations…non-communication. Look elsewhere.
