Rich from Richken Painting Company did an exceptional job painting my garage and applying an epoxy coating to the floor. Their work was so impressive that I decided to hire them to paint the common areas of my home. I chose a color and brand from Sherwin Williams due to my previous positive experiences with the brand. Rich agreed to use the color I selected, so I felt confident leaving for a work trip, trusting that the job would be executed as promised.
Upon completion, Rich sent me photos of the finished job, which looked good in the pictures. However, when I returned and inspected the walls, I noticed a bluish tint in the paint. Rich came to the house for a quote on another potential project, during which my husband and I voiced our concerns about the bluish tint. Rich explained that grey is a difficult color to match and that it can appear differently in various lighting conditions. The issue, however, was that the paint used was a color match and not the Sherwin Williams color we had originally selected.
Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue through phone and email, it became clear that Richken Painting Company would not accept responsibility for their decision to use a different paint brand instead of the Sherwin Williams product we had chosen. The company offered to repaint the areas, but only at full price and with a 3-month delay. No accommodations or corrective measures were offered.
While I understand that grey can be challenging to match, there should have been some accountability for not using the specified Sherwin Williams paint, especially given that we chose not to use PPG paint due to its lower quality.
