  new deck

  I would not hire this company at all. They were hired to rebuild a deck but needless to say it was awful I believe I could of done it better not having any experience. Boards did match up after about 1 month strews starting coming up, rails didn't match up, I could go on. Met with Mr. Riikola and he assured us that the problems would be taken care of and if it did not meet our expectation he would do it again. Well guess what he never showed back up - took his money and ran but did not get full payment but most of it.

  I would not recommend this company to do any work at anyone's house!!!! Even though I hired him I made 1 big mistake

  Before I moved into my house in Hardin Valley, Rick Riikola was hired to build a shower. It is a beautiful shower and in fact was one of the major selling points of the house. However, about a month after we moved in it started leaking into our kitchen. I contacted the previous owners of the house to determine who had built the shower which they say was between 3-5 years old (They weren't too sure). After a few calls and voicemails by myself and the former owners, Mr. Riikola called me back saying, "That's weird, I haven't had any showers leak before." He told me he would come out on Friday after lunch to look at the shower. That was the last time I ever spoke to Mr. Riikola. Friday came and went, he did not.

  I worked out a deal with another contractor that he would rebuild my shower after I tore it apart. I started deconstruction of my shower yesterday. After I pulled out the floor tiles and the bottom layer of the tiles on the wall, I found out why it was leaking. The concrete walls at the corner of the shower were not adjoined and the liner that is supposed to be set up underneath it was not pulled up in the corner. Once the water in the shower got past the grout, there was nothing that kept it from going straight into the wood in the walls of the shower. I have pictures to prove that the shower was installed incorrectly and will provide them to anyone who would like to contact me to see the evidence before making the wise decision of not doing business with Mr. Riikola (Not that he would show up anyway).

  As of now, I have a bathroom full of concrete dust, a partially demolished shower, and a big hole in the sheetrock of my kitchen ceiling that had to be cut to alleviate the buildup of water.

  Maybe my situation is an anomaly. Maybe he is normally dependable and does fine work, but speaking from my experience, his word means nothing and he does not stand behind his shoddy craftsmanship.

  If you are not a first timer working with contractor and know EXACTLY what you want accomplished for your project, this company may work for you. My husband and I have not had a pleasant experience with Riikola Construction Company as we hired this company to remodel my first home I've ever purchased and have been waiting on both ideas for how to complete necessary projects and a time schedule for each project since starting five months ago.

  I've had to drop everything I was doing during several businesses days (at least four that I have documented) and make a special trip (i.e. not scheduled) to my house to walk the company's subcontractors through questions and issues.

  All in all, I would not recommend this company if you are looking for people that care about your future in your home. If you want a job that's not stressful, go choose Rikkola.
