Our experience with Joe Ring was a nightmare. We worked with a designer that Joe recommended and she helped us design a plan for a bathroom renovation. She was amazing and after the design was complete Joe gave us a price for the project. We signed a contract for the project to be completed in approximately 2- 3 months. After 8 months on the project we fired him:
1. He very seldom was on site and we would go weeks with no one showing up or communicating why the job was delayed.
2. He would complain that he under bid the project and would not follow the specifications of the project and would substitute sub standard products without consulting us and eliminate items agreed upon in the contract
3. We continued to request a schedule of weekly work and never received anything. Any communication about the project was initiated only by us. He would agree to meet with us and then cancel last minute.
4. Most of the work that was done was substandard. We had to hire someone to complete the project and redo much of the work that Joe and his subs had done.
Working with Joe was frustrating experience.

I strongly recommend AGAINST working with Joe Ring. Working with Joe Ring (Ring Construction / justaringaway) has been the worst experience of our lives. We hired him for a proposed 4-month kitchen remodel and we finally fired him month nine after no improved work or project management occurred.
• He is no more than Glorified Angie’s List. He required us to meet the subs for walk thru’s, did not document anything so he and his subs asked us numerous times for very basic details, and we had subs calling us and showing up for payment as they were not being paid by Joe Ring. So, you will pay Design / Build prices and get a subpar product.
• Joe or his PM were rarely on site. There were weeks when no one was on the jobsite and there was no communication from either of them. Then, out of the blue, we would get a text that they needed to be on site immediately, we needed to select material in a rush and we needed to prepare for subs. More often than not, the subs showed up with little to no direction, no plans on site, and no materials. On more than one occasion, the Sub left because they had no direction or materials.
• We continued to request weekly updates and this never happened. Ring claimed to have project management software but it never worked or was never updated by Ring. His PM said he would not use the software. We had to create a master book of all materials and plans for all the subs. We also started creating a weekly punch list in text and in writing of items that needed to occur to move the project along. We had to manage the entire project.
• Excessive lying from Joe Ring. When we would confront Joe Ring on subpar work, overcharges, inconsistencies, or if he had paid his subs with the monies we had paid him, he was very quick with responses that were untrue. We started confirming everything with the Subs as he proved himself untrustworthy. He has no problem lying to your face. Subs were texting us on the side and confirming his lies.
• On the very limited times Ring did any actual work, he left incredible messes everywhere. There was no regard for the safety and wellbeing of the homeowners or his own subcontractors. The major subs confided that Ring construction sites are the dirties and most dangerous and were appalled how much clean up the homeowners were required to do.
• Joe Ring tore off the back of our house and then charged us two times the amount for the foundation work that he said we needed to stay on our 4-month timeline. Joe Ring basically stole money from us.
• I recommend AGAINST hiring this contractor. You would be better off using Angie’s List as we had to ultimately manage the project and the payment of the subs ourselves.
