Permits
- Building permit records show that Riverside Construction of Monticello has worked on 72 permitted projects.
On 01/22/21, we signed a contract and paid a deposit with Riverside Construction of a 600sf addition on our residence to move in and care for an elderly relative. After a delay in waiting for a setback variance from the city, we received the approval on 05/24/21. After numerous promises of application for permit and the start of work, workers first arrived on 07/09/21. Over the next 6 weeks, there were many days when no one came to the job site to work and/or work moved very slowly. Riverside Construction partially completed the foundation and block work on 08/18/21, however, the foundation insulation was not completed. On 08/25/21, I received a text that the Owner of Riverside Construction had Covid. I have confirmed he is no longer sick and have attempted to contact Riverside Construction by text, phone, and email 7 times after that date to get an update on how the project would proceed and received no response.
Due to the lack of response and need to move this project forward for our elderly relative, we have secured a new contractor to move forward with this project and have payed a deposit to this new contractor.
We are currently owed $13,257.50 from Riverside Construction for overpayment of services rendered. This calculation does not include the increased expenses for locating a new contractor and the increase in materials costs since the initial contract was signed, nor the cost of inconvenience and time for dealing with this.
