i am a first time homebuyer who purchased a new home built by Mario in May of 2023. Upon moving into the home I immediately noticed deficiencies that remain to this day. I had issues with cabinets being left unfinished, my entry doors weren’t measured correctly, leaving a two inch gap under each door. Naturally, this caused my heating bill to increase, and critters to enter my home. I’m dealing with ants in my master bathroom, which is a sign of the bathroom not being caulked properly, and I have a sink in my master bathroom that is unusable, and has been since October of 2023. I will say, Mario did attempt to address the issue with the doors using a draft stopper, and he did fix the cabinet, but even after trying relentlessly to get the other issues resolved, they still remain. When I mentioned the issue with my sink to Mario, he referred me to Jason of Expo Stone Tri-State LLC, as he was responsible for installing my sinks and countertops. After trying to get the issue resolved with Jason, he completely stopped all communication with me. I then had to plead with Mario to either provide the name of Jason’s company for me (which I eventually found on my own) so that I could file a complaint, or provide a different contractor so that I might get the issue resolved, and he too stopped all communication with me. It’s extremely unfortunate that as a first time home buyer this has been my experience, and I would hate for anyone else to have to go through the same thing. The materials that are used to construct the homes Mario builds are poor to say the least, the contractors he employs are unprofessional, and overall the work they do together is sloppy.

    New House Built
    $125,000

    ???BAD BUSINESS ALERT???
I signed a contract to build my house in March with Mario Roach (Gifted Construction). My house was originally scheduled to be completed on July 31st, 2019. As July 31st approaches, I realize they will not be finished on time. Apparently something unexpected has come up and they needed an extension until August 31st, 2019. I wasn’t pleased with it but I understand things happen, therefore I authorized the extension.

On August 15th, I went by to check on the progress of the house, immediately I noticed the wrong floors were being installed. I promptly called the contractor/builder (Mario Roach) to address this issue. Mario attempts to convince me those were the correct floors in which I insist they are not. His attempts to assure me that those were the correct floors failed. Mario states that I need to contact my agent if I have any further issues. After speaking with my agent to explain all of issues, we agreed to meet at the house to discuss our next options. We come to an agreement that the floors should be replaced or I should be compensated with a fence.

Mario Roach later sends me a text message (August 20th) apologizing for installing the incorrect floors. He also stated that the floors were out of stock but he did not inform me nor my agent.

On August 26th, 2019, a detailed email listing all of my concerns was sent to Marios agent (Tanika Bland). Mario Roach sends me a text message stating “Im not adding a fence, its nothing I can do about floors maybe you need to find a new house.” I was flabbergasted at his response. I have been very patient and understanding until this point. I was scheduled to close on August 31st, 2019 but I’m forced to walk away due to the wrongdoings of the contractor/builder. Mario Roach refuses to compensate me for the mistakes he made throughout the length of our contract agreement.

On August 26th, his agent (Tanika Bland) verbally asked for another extension til September 20th to finish my house. This extension does not include them fixing the issue that we have expressed. As a first time homebuyer this has been a terrible experience. I have placed my life on hold for the past six months only to be forced to walk away without a house. I can’t have any legal recourse. A form for him to release my earnest money on August 28 due to his refusal to fix my floors or compensate me for his wrongdoings. Mario Roach refuses to sign the release on August 29 because he claims the floors are correct(in which our contract states otherwise). See screenshots contract and texts from him proving the floors are wrong.

    Build a house
    $125,000

I signed a contract to build my house in March with Mario Roach (Gifted Construction) My house was supposed to be complete July 31st. July 31st rolls around they are not ready!! Some things came up they needed an extension until August 31st I wasn’t happy about it but oh well. Just another 30 days I authorize the extension. August 15th I went by to check on the progress of the house. I noticed the wrong floors being installed. I immediately call the contractor/builder (Mario Roach) about the floors. He attempts to convince me those are the correct floors I insist they are not. He then tells me to contact my agent if I have any issues. We go back and forth about the floors. I get no where. I contact my agent explain my issue we meet at the house to discuss the floors and our next options. We come to an agreement that the floors be replaced or I be compensated with a fence. We type of a email detailing my concerns. One he receives the email. He then texts me and says “Im not adding a fence, its nothing I can do about floors maybe you need to find a new house.” So here I am on August 30th ready to close on my house actually been ready and Im forced to walk away because my floors aren’t done properly nor does Mario Roach want to compensate me for the mistakes he made. And on top of all of that he needs and extension til September 20th to finish my house and that’s without fixing the issue or compromising in any way. And now I have put my life on hold for the last six months only to be forced to walk away without a house and can’t have any legal recourse. I also sent a form for him to release my earnest money because he refused to fix my floors or compensate me. And he refuses to sign because of he claims the floors are correct. And I have a contract and texts from him proving the floors are wrong. Do not build with this guy.

Be prepared, if you have a house built by this man, it's like pulling teeth to get him to honor is one year builder warranty. The deck was slanted, had to hire separate contractor to fix, back fence isn't even attached to anything so the whole thing will fall as one piece - yard wasn't even leveled, looks horrible - took 4 months for him to get out there, and he leveled the lot next to ours. Dishwasher is leaking, nothing's happened, electrical issues are occurring - cabinets are splitting at the hinges and he refuses to fix any of them. Horrible, horrible job and honoring his warranty.
