    nearly a gut renovation of our unit based on owner's schematics

    We would recommend Roberts Design and Construction highly. Our major renovation in the South End included a new kitchen and bathroom plus addition of a half bath, construction /carpentry of a media unit, complete replacement of door frames and trim throughout, ceiling adjustments, new wall locations, new flooring, relocation of a laundry center, plus addition of closets to the main bedroom. A lot of interface with various building systems was required. We found Brian and his team to be both responsive and professional. The quality of their work has been outstanding. They were very easy to communicate with and took extra care to leave our neighbors, management company and condo association happy with their construction activity. When changes were needed due to our revisions in scope or existing conditions, they were able to adjust their work flow and timeframes without a hitch. They made many constructive suggestions along the way and always had valuable input. We felt their pricing was reasonable, even on change orders. Best of all, their team from top to bottom was considerate, respectful, and very talented! They followed Covid protocol well. Best of all, we love our end product!

    Brian, Mike, Reuben, Pablo, Javier, Diego and Francisco are terrific. We hired Brian to redo a master bathroom, a kitchen refacing/makeover and a few other major and minor projects around our single family house in south Boston. We received several quotes from other builders, but chose Brian and his crew based on not only the numbers, but his professionalism. I immediately trusted him which was not the case with the other builders we interviewed. During the process, it wasn’t always easy, but he and his team cared and tried and always listened. Some things are out of their control, but they did everything they could to make the process smooth. Reuben is a talented master carpenter whose work is impeccable. Thank you, guys. You did an awesome job.

    We hired Brian for a bathroom and kitchen remodel. We were told it would take six weeks for bathroom, and that the kitchen would take two months. It ended up taking them five months, and then they walked off the project without finishing it. Brian frequently ignored our design specifications, and work had to be redone. They ordered pieces we didn't need despite having detailed designs with exact measurements from our architect which caused unnecessary delays.

    They didn't close up a pipe correctly which caused minor flooding in our brand new kitchen. Workers damaged a piece of our art work. We have permanent stains on two of rugs because they didn't property protect our floors. We had to micromanage every single stage of the project despite paying them a management fee. I think the only part of the project that went to plan was the initial demo work.

    They sent us multiple invoices that were off by thousands of dollars, and it took them weeks to correct. They back dated invoices which made it look like we weren't paying bills on time. In the end we had to bring in a lawyer to resolve the issues, and end the contract. Even that process, from the time Brian's lawyer and our lawyer reached a final payment agreement, it took Brian five months to get us the signed lein waivers.

    All told a project that they estimated would take them 6 to 8 weeks tied us up for nearly a year. On top of that, I need to hire someone else to finish up the work they didn't finish. The only good thing that came out of this experience was I learned I need to do more due diligence when hiring a contractor.
