  Zero stars. Don't hire them. June 2, 2019 I contacted Mike Tomaschek at Rock Solid Hardscapes, Inc for paver step repairs and an estimate for a driveway expansion. He came out and sent over a proposal. On June 12,2019 we agreed to the revised proposal and he told me he would start the repair work for the steps right away and schedule the work for the driveway and sidewalk late July. I paid the $500 deposit and 50% $1,950 to him. We talked July 25 and he said they would be by that saturday July 27. Nobody showed up July 27 so i texted July 28 and asked if anyone was coming. His response was No and he didn't respond to any of my questions on text or answer his calls for almost three weeks. On August 17,2019 he said his machine was down and will be there next week for the work. August 17 came and went and he wouldn't respond to text and calls until August 30,2019 saying he would call back. He never called back. He didn't respond to my texts or answer his phone until September 10,2019 when he said he would do the work on September 14 but didn't show up until September 15. His demolition crew showed up and demo'd the concrete sidewalk and left all the concrete and dirt behind and some into my neighbor's yard. I had to spent hours cleaning it up all the concrete spread out in our yards. Nobody showed back up the next day so i decided to eliminate part of the scope of work at the driveway because of their poor workmanship. We conversated a few time after through calls and text messages and they came back September 23, 2019 to repair the steps and lay some of the sidewalk pavers. They didn't complete and left another mess. They also didn't repair the step as proposed that i already paid for. The poorly installed steps fell apart caused two injuries. From september 23 until today October 15 they still have not finished and continue to tell me they will be there but never show up.

  In May of 2017 when I was ready to create a backyard living space I went to Unilock. They recommended Mike Tomaschek of Rock Solid Hardscapes and provided him with my contact information. I first met with him in May of 2017 ready to proceed. He never got to my job during 2017, but kept providing reasons and encouragemen. He contacted me again in April of 2018. In June he said he would start right after July 4. Through July he kept saying he was still waiting for the permit (which I later discovered he didn't apply for until July 23rd). He finally showed up on July 26th and dug the outline. He told me the job will take 10 days. he also told me he was going to be purchasing the pavers and needed half of the money $10,960.00 in addition to the $1000 I already gave him. August came and went with no sign of him. When I contacted him in August I told him he needed to return my money to me until he was ready to do the job, he promised an absolute deadline date of September 7th. Next contact was September 14th when he came out and compacted the ground. He left a machine out there until I called him on September 25th to ask what was happening, at which time he said he was on his way over to do work; however on September 25th all he did was come out and pick up his machine. It is now November 1st and he has not been responding. he hasn't returned my phone calls he hasn't returned my money and he hasn't put in a single paver. He obviously didn't use my money to buy my materials and clearly the summer is over. Two summers, no patio. No further work has been done. In addition, I repeatedly asked him for a copy of the permit, a copy of the contract (which I never signed), a copy of an invoice and receipt. I receive none of these documents. He took almost $11,000 from me and all he did is compact the ground. Important thing to know about Mike Thomascheck is that he presents as very nice, sincere, and professional. He is none of these things. He is very unprofessional, dishonest, and has no conscience.

  Do not hire this company. Poor workmanship, iniatiated work without required permits. Failed final building inspection(but told both of us it passed). Told us the project would take one-two weeks and begin mid May. In reality started early August and as of early December has NOT been completed due to failing inspection and noncompliance by Mike the owner to meet the city’s requirements. There is still a step to complete some stonework needed as well.

  Beware Unilock recommends this company.

  The whole project has been just horrible. We were left for months with no steps to access any door of our home.
