I would not recommend hiring rocky mountain marble and bath. I tried my hardest to make my project work with the contractor, but after many attempts on my part to get him to even come over and look at the mess that was caused by his employees he would never commit to a date. I finally had to terminate him and engage with another contractor to complete the job.
Needless to say the work done on my property was poorly done and not to code. For starters the backer board used in the shower was standard paper covered gypsum board, which violates the International Residential Code R702.3.7. On top of using incorrect material the backer board was poorly installed, making uneven lines that would make the most experienced tile installer have a difficult time making the tile work correctly.
When installing the glass tile in the shower a mastic was used, which is not designed for wet spaces, because it will break down in water. On top of that the mastic wasn't even uniformly applied, leaving huge gaping holes behind the tile...a great breeding ground for mold.
Throughout the project it was clear that communication between the contractor and his crews was nonexistent. Conversations I had with his workers made it clear none of the project direction and concerns I had were ever shared with the workers, in spite of the contractor always claiming everything was shared with them. Ultimately the contractor never really seemed to be engaged in the project and work would happen at a very slow pace and in a haphazard manner.
When I finally stopped all work on the project I could never get the contractor to come look at the state of the project and make a plan to fix things. He made promises over and over that he would but never followed through. As a frustrated homeowner I showed as much patience and restraint as I could to work through problems, but when the other party consistently fails to come to the table there is nothing to be done but to move on.
I would warn everyone to strongly consider my experience before making a decision to hire rocky mountain.
