I called the owner, Mehran Farhanbod, last night just to adjust the position of LED lights. He told me that the regular pricing is $100 by the hour, but if I wanted him to come (last night), it would be $75.00 additional. I asked, " I thought that you guys were 24hours?" He mentioned that they are, but at night after 6 P.M. or so, it is $175.
I called him the next day - explained that I had called him the night before, and I wanted to know what were the costs for him to come today before the "night fee" would be imposed. He said that it would be "more or less, $100.00." I asked what does more or less mean. He said that it would be exactly $97. I explained to him that I only needed him to adjust the positioning of 2 sets of (3) LED lights downward, which I had already done with the lower set LED lights. It took me less than 3 minutes. I mentioned that I needed services because the other lights were very high up; he asked if I owned a two-story or a one-story home; I mentioned it was a one-story, but that the lights were literally at the top of the house, literally placed on the exterior of the attic, the highest point. He said that he would come between 5 and 6 P.M. He arrived a few minutes after 5 P.M. He assessed the "situation," and said that he had the latter ladder on his truck, a 36 foot ladder. Then, he mentioned to me that he had to call his "helper," and see if he was available to come and hold the ladder, as it takes two people to hold the ladder. I asked at what time I could expect him back....He said about 1.5 hours. I asked if that meant before 7 P.M. He said, "Yes." He then told me that I would now have to pay $175 instead of $100, going into a "song and dance" about having to now pay another worker, so that is why it was $175. I was very specific w/ him on the phone and reiterated everything regarding what the need was; he actually had the ladder ON THE TRUCK and decided that he wanted to charge me almost double. He said that he didn't know that I had 2 different lights; I mentioned that I did have two different lights and I let him know - he was not reinstalling/ removing/ or replacing anything - only manually turning the dial to change the position. But, I then said to him to not even worry about one of the lights; the other light was of importance to have done to avoid a fine by Building and Safety....This guy is a scam artist....He was made fully aware by me about the height (I mentioned that a ladder such as the one used to clean gutters was needed - possibly taller). He then talked about the call being an "estimate," and that even though he arrived before 6 P.M., I would incur a charge (now) not for the return after 6 P.M, but for the labor of his "other" worker that does not even exist. He is the sole employee and owner of the company. I guess after he assessed things - my being a woman, etc., he tried to price gouge me...So unfortunate....
