Ron came to help us with a problem on a Saturday morning, for which we are greatful.
However we were puzzled with his explanation for a short that was occurring in an outlet he installed a year and a half prior.
The outlet in question was located behind a piece for of furniture for the majority of its lifetime and subsequently hasn't seen use until this month. We've only plugged something in or out a handful of times and Ron told us we caused the short by jiggling the outlet too much.
When considering the facts, it seems most likely that the short was caused by two wire touching when he installed the outlet during our remodel less than 2 years ago. Ron dismissed this idea, which is disappointing.
It doesn't feel right to pay an electrician for 2 hours of work to fix a problem that is most likely the result of an honest mistake he made during installation.
While we have no ill will toward Ron, we will be looking for another electrician in town if we don't come to a meaningful resolution.
