Roughen Electric quoted a home remodel for us and we agreed to have them perform the work. Three days before the work was to begin Dennis Roughen came to our house to perform a final review, have us sign a lien waver, and to accept a down payment for work to be performed. Three hours after accepting our check, Dennis sent us an e-mail that Roughen Electric would not perform the work for us and that he was going to keep $100 of our down payment. He left us with no contractor for time critical work. He refused to return phone calls and emails to discuss the situation.
Extremely unprofessional.

In a word - terrible! Mr. Roughen (pronounced Rohan) was presented with a detailed task list before he began. Only when he started he clearly had another agenda and started working on older circuits that did not require his attention cutting them short in the conduit so now none of the original ceiling lights work and will now probably have to be re-pulled.
A number of lines were run without any explanation of what they were or how they related to the project. Junction boxes were installed in the ceiling which had no hope of joining the new lines to existing devices.
Feeds to the upper appartment were run through a temporary partition wall contrary to my express directives when easier paths were available.
Most of his work had to be removed.
The deposit we gave him and his refusal to return calls and emails is consistent with that of Kurt S. above.
