  Very Bad Experience with this company, Ricardo Tavares, started project in Nov 2020 completed only framing, collected up to 60% of the deposit by assuring to complete by 12 weeks. Since March 2021 he is not responding to phone calls or text. I even heard that he did not even pay who works under him/company, still my basement is not complete. Keep away from this company, do not trust anything they say.

  Our ordeal with Ricardo H Tavares "Contractor" began January 2021, soon after signing the contract, He requested if they can get started with prep work and order required material as his other project had to be put on hold. The next day his crew come to pretend to work collected the 2nd installment, one of his crew stops by for 2 more days pretend to work. He and his crew disappeared soon after cashing both 1st and 2nd payments totaling to ~15K
  Upon repeatedly calling the contractor for the copy of the discussed finished basement plan and status of the construction permit application he kept lying and blaming the construction office bout the submission and p[ossible delays by the township. Having not heard from him we checked with the township only to know he new submitted the application after a lot of chasing and repeated checking with Ricardo seems to have submitted partial documents to the township after 5 weeks of signing the contract.
  Another 2 weeks of being chased by the township and us for the rest of the information.
  He pays a deaf ear to our request to share documents for our review and rather suggest we wait for the approval after which we could get the copies of the documentation.

  8 weeks into this and repeated lying, it was clear to us Ricardo conned us like many other clients from mid-2019.
  He never intended to work and his primary intention was to extorted huge amounts from us.

  Finally, after we requested our refund, he calls us to convey the 2 options we have
  Wait (indefinitely) for him to work and finish the roughing work for which he colled the money OR
  Choose to around NJ courts for months and months to come.
  Tired of this and the threat he posed we choose to go with the state legal system.
  Hoping our Legal system would be able to keep scammers like this off the streets and help the innocent homeowners from being hostages.

  Finishing Basement

  We hired Ricardo for finishing our basement in Dec 2020. Initially his guys showed up to work on regular basis but right after receiving 50% of the payment they stopped coming.
  We had to call Ricardo daily to find out if they are coming but he did not answer our phone calls. He barely responds to our calls and texts. Always makes excuses to skip the work. Our initial rough inspection failed and he is not fixing the issues raised in inspection.

  Worst experience ever! I started my basement in sept 2019 and it is still not finished. We keep failing the final electrical inspection. He doesn’t answer my text or calls. now we have to find someone else to finish the job. What is worse is we changed our laundry room to bathroom and I told him to get a permit to change it, he said he did and I just found out that he never filed for the permit with the town. Laundry room to bathroom renovation is done and now I have to find some other contractor to rip everything off and start fresh with the permit. Don’t trust this company, Ricardo, the owner. He will give you excuse after excuse not to finish the job.

  basement remodel

  We got this pro from thumbtack for our basement finishing and trusted the 4 star reviews but in our case it turned out to be a disaster . He is a liar and made us believe his words and get into the agreement and after paying 80% of money on time he did finish only 35% worth of work for the amount of 80% paid . He started saying execuses and skipping the work every week and we have to beg everyday and request for his plan then he responds one word or line saying different reasons sick, resource not available or something else. He took our money and not showing up as promised and he said he will finish the work in 6 weeks but now more than 12 weeks work not finished lot of pending work remaining . He is not responding to any our calls and communicating is very bad . He tells each thing every time and changes to something different. Now we are going to state of NJ consumer affairs to check on this contractor .
