I wouldn’t even give him 1 star. Save yourself the headache and DO NOT hire Steve Rubiano. My husband and I bought our first house and decided to do a few things before moving in. Steve was the first contractor we hired to refinish our kitchen cabinets. He told us he could have the job done in 4 days. He took the doors off and “prepped” them. This took him 4 days. We asked him when he would start actually painting because we needed to get our other contractors in the house. He said he needed 2 days. Well 3 weeks went by with nothing but excuse after excuse from him. He painted the doors, but we noticed the original cabinet color still bleeding through or that some doors were not even painted in some spots. He hung them back up even though he said he would “touch up” the things we noticed before hanging them. He also forgot to take a door off and every time we came to see how things were going, we would ask him about the one cabinet door and he said he knew about it and he would get to it. Also, every time we came to check on him, he would be sitting on our front porch barefoot and on his phone. He also told my husband that he was at the house one time when he wasn’t because my husband was at our house. When he sprayed the base of the cabinets, he over sprayed and got paint all over the inside of the cabinets. We also noticed that some vodka that we had at the house seemed to have some missing from it. We put a line on it and sure enough, the next time we checked it after he left, there was about a whole cup missing from the bottle. After getting sick and tired of his BS my husband fired him. He also asked him about the missing vodka and Steve blamed it on one of his workers, but he fired that worker after being at our house for 1 day. The vodka started to go missing after he fired his worker! We found a red solo cup in his supplies in our kitchen and sure enough it had some vodka left in the bottom of it. He swore up and down that he didn’t drink it because he has diverticulosis yet he was he only person at our house besides us going to check on him.

Liar! Liar!liar! Save yourself a headache. Terrible work, very unreliable. Only shows up to take your money. Gives every excuse in the world of why he couldn’t show up. He uses lung cancer as an excuse as well as his mother getting chemotherapy. He is s worthless piece of garbage. Save your money.

After hurricane Sandy I was referred by a good friend to use Rubiano Paintings services for much needed repairs due to water damage. I found him a pleasure to work with, price was reasonable and my home was done on time and to 100% of my satisfaction. I would definitely recommend his services.

hired Steven Rubiano to refinish my kitchen cabinets. I mistakenly accepted the fact that he had a business license and insurance, and it lulled me into a sense of confidence.
He wrote up a contract, including the timeframe, which was two days for completion.
Where do I start? First of all he’s very loud, he is a blabbermouth and he is very large. What do those things have to do with his ability to paint my kitchen cabinets you ask, nothing really except everything when you question him about timeframe or anything else he gets belligerent he starts blabbering 1 million excuses and he gets loud. He brought to high school students that do the work I guess he didn’t seem to do anything. Needless to say, the job did not get done. A week later I asked him to return the doors to my cabinets along with any paint I had supplied to him I paid him half the cost of the job, which was way too much for the crappy job he performed . Some of the doors had paint on them. Some of them didn’t they were chipped they were sloppy when he sprayed the base pants there was overspray everywhere which meant I had to repaint my wall and luckily I had paint to do so. Bottom line as he’s a liar, he will use every whiny little excuse under the sun that he can think of. He will call you so that his excuses and belligerent attitude is not exposed through a text message, although I have plenty to show that it was in fact.
Clearly, his license should be pulled. I wish I had done my due diligence like the other customers here not only is he an incompetent painter he has personality traits that are extremely unpleasant. I could go on and on most unpleasant experience in my life. I just wanted him to leave my home and never return.
