John Sahin was hired to remodel my parents' bathroom about a month and a half ago. When we met him, he was very friendly. When they started working, things seemed to be going okay. He found some rotting wood studs behind the walls that had to be replaced, which he did, maybe adding an extra day or two onto the project.
We were told the entire work would take 4-5 days. It ended up taking 9 days, during most of which he would not be present while his workers continued working. The workers were friendly, and he was polite during all of this.
After the work was "done" it was incredibly sloppy in so many areas, and left a mess in other areas of the house. The moulding around the new bathroom door wasn't nailed down all the way, with all of the nail holes exposed. The door itself was stained sloppily, with several drip marks of the polyurethane. The hole in the tile for the light switch was cut too large. The granite tile on the floor, the walls, the floor on the showers is uneven and not level at every single point. There aren't any two tiles that are level with the other. It's completely amateur work. Not worth anywhere close to the $10,000 of labor they were paid. You can feel nearly every single edge with your toe, some sticking up more than others. There's some pretty sharp edges sticking up in the shower area, which you can feel every single time you take a shower.
As for the mess, there is a brick patio out front, and from the work they were doing, there is now tile cement/grout and mud stuck in the brick. Some of it also got on the car in the driveway.
We called him to complain about this, and he said he would come the next Monday. Never showed up. We called him again. He said "Oh I'll be there Wednesday." Never showed up. Same thing for Thursday, and another day. Finally he comes last week Wednesday to see what we are dissatisfied with, I show him, and he is coming up with a lot of ridiculous excuses but still admits that he and his guys did sloppy work. He says he'll come and fix the door frame, power-wash the brick patio (which I'm doubtful is going to work without damaging anything further), and re-compensate us in cash for the sloppy work with the uneven tiles, and that he would be here last Saturday. Still never showed up.
Even if he ever actually arrives to fix the work, I would recommend going with an actual professional. His excuse for the tiles being uneven was, "Oh well if you want to get professional work done, you gotta pay some other professionals much more," admitting that he is not very experienced. Getting a partial refund does not make up for the fact that a new bathroom now has permanently uneven tiles. The bathroom looks nicer than it did before, but the work done is not worth anywhere near what was paid for.
I would not recommend Sahin Home Improvement Inc for any work in the future.
