We contracted for an extension to our Lanai in June of 2016 --- we gave a $10K deposit, no progress on work, constantly have to text messages or call with no return calls unless we threaten to report them to BBB or Governor's Consumer Council. Made promises haven't kept them. Now we have a trench that abuts our Lanai, it has been dug for so long it caved and they had to re dig, have had Pest Control Treat the land so concrete could be poured. They capped some of our irrigation system and now that does not work, and still nothing. Keep promising to be here...demanded another $4K and still nothing. Kept telling us it was City of Eustis FL permitting process...we went to the City yesterday, and the City said that indeed it is this company that refused to complete applications appropriately..that permits had been approved. I am not sure if this has to do with Hurricane repairs, but this company had $14K of our monies for almost 6 months and all we have is a trench in our backyard that at this point is considered a safety hazard.

I wanted an enclosed porch. After Johnny making an appointment with us and both my husband and I leaving work early to meet him there, he cancelled last minute. Then he said I will call you Thursday or Friday to give you a time to meet. It is now Monday and never got a call.

We were very pleased with SMI's help with our home remodel. They always kept us informed and they answered every question that we had. We wouldn't imagine hiring anyone else to build homes here in central Florida. SMI Construction and their supervisors were very efficient and helped us every step of our project. Would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to remodel or build a custom home.

Great service and fast call back times. I have had a custom home built by Johnny Mellado and his project managers and they are a great team altogether. Permits took a little longer than expected but my house turned out exactly the way i wanted it to.

We contracted for a project in June of 2017...it is for a Lanai extension...Gave a $14,000.00 deposit...That job is still not complete, contractor does not return calls, and, in fact, changed his phone number without notifying us. We could go on as others before us have ….. contact us, we have photos, timelines, statements for Building Inspectors, Building Supervisors. Nothing works. We are only residents of FL for 2 years, and what a dreadful experience...We currently have columns a roof, with open eaves, a pile of materials dumped in our back yard, screening taken down from our existing lanai. We cannot use our backyard and it has been this way since November. We are in our 70s, well educated, and so frustrated at this point.
