    fire damage repair

    I hired Matt Sanford to complete repair work on my home following a fire. Mr Sanford communicated to me that he would work with the insurance company to handle the claim. He did not do this. In fact, he has dragged his feet on submitting his bills to the insurance company effectively slowing down the process of getting my home restored. As of today, over 2 months since he completed his portion of work on my home, he still has not given me a final invoice, and my insurance company has already closed the claim. So, the claim will have to reopened, causing more stress and time on my part to deal with the claims process, again.

    In addition, (1) Mr. Sanford's crew broke a front porch light which has yet to be fixed, (2) he forgot to repair the surround system and other items which were pointed out to him repeatedly, (3) I still have electrical outlets that were damaged in the fire, and are still not fixed, (4) he complained to me that he didnt see how making sure to remember items in my home which were damaged by the fire were replaced was his responsibility, (5) he misrepresented to me his interactions with the insurance adjuster, said he sent bills to them which he did not, and, (6) now, will not cooperate with me to send his last bill to my insurance company for payment. I brought these issues up to him several times, and that I did not think he was taking responsibility to make sure his part of my claim got resolved; and instead of making sure his part of the job was done well, and that I was satisfied, he got defensive, said I was attacking his character, and called me a "son of a bitch" over the phone. I told him I wasn't questioning his character, however, I did think he had a memory problem and should write things down in the future. I don't think he plans to take that suggestion.

    I dont normally write these reviews, but in this case it seems the right thing to do to share my experience. I was the victim of a fire in my home which was a punch to my sense of security. I hired Mr Sanford to restore that sense of security in my home. I regret that decision. Mr Sanford is not thorough, he does not finish jobs completely and timely, has a poor memory and lacks the skill set to offset that issue, has poor communication skills in that he does not give accurate information, and terrible customer service in that he is defensive when confronted with customer complaints, Mr. Sanford made the experience of trying to repair almost as bad as the fire itself. Hire at your own risk.
