Get everything in writing! We were told we were lucky to get a bid in the winter time by one of the consultants in the company because during their busy season in the summer they just throw a huge number out there regardless of the job. They were also unprepared when it came to the abatement for our project, and we had argue what items needed to be removed, including the items that tested the highest for asbestos. We were also told that they would work with us and discount rooms that needed no abatement. We opted to not have our upstairs ceilings removed, and they discounted the bare minimum to the point it was not worth it to have asked them not remove the ceiling, nor the long hours my husband and I spent preparing the house so any prep work could be minimized by their employees. We were trying to work with the company to have them consider these things in the final bill only to find the company has been calling the bank repeatedly for payment, while ignoring our communication for days. The owner called me this morning while I was getting my son ready for school and raised her voice at me (unprovoked), and threatened to put a lien on our home if they were not payed in full. I am flabbergasted at the lack of professionalism. There are many other options out there for asbestos abatement, including contractors who are certified, and will do it at a fraction of the cost.
