It really saddens me to write this review. I want to like Jack, he is a likeable guy and I think that at one point he was a very good electrician but circumstances and his own poor judgement have combined to make him unreliable, dishonest, and a liability to those who hire him.
We hired Jack based on a friend's recommendation to do a number of jobs in our home. He asked for money up front (over $1K) to buy parts that he said were rather expensive and he couldn't float. I gave him the money.
Over the following two months he dragged the work along. He did get some stuff done, he installed grounding rods and put up a motion sensor light on our garage. He certainly spent a lot of time working on other projects but always managed to leave them incomplete. He frequently said that he would come back the next day and then wouldn't show up for a week, sometimes without calling at all.
He often showed up with "assistants", one time with an eighteen year old kid with the flu, because Jack's back was hurting and he needed help. The kid ended up doing all the work and I received a call from my tenant that night that her hot water heater wasn't working and there was a mass of wires sticking out of the wall. I had to pay for an emergency visit from another electrician to fix the mess. More money spent.
Then the motion detector light in the garage shorted out because it had been installed incorrectly, again by one of his assistants.
At this point I wanted to get my money back and tell him to go packing but my boyfriend, who is a kinder soul than I, said we should just get him to finish the jobs that he had left unfinished and bring us the parts he had supposedly bought with our up front money.
Six weeks went by. Jack showed up once of the dozen or so times that he actually said he would come. He worked for an hour and left again saying he needed more parts. That was the last I saw of him. Repeated phone calls and texts have resulted only in sad stories about how sorry he is and that he is broke and can't afford to buy the parts and he has to work other jobs and doesn't have the time to come back and finish the work we have already paid him for.
In short, I highly advise you to steer clear of Jack. He acts like someone with a drug habit and whatever his deal is, he is not honest or reliable. I'm going to small claims court.
