We hired Schei HomeBuilding to build our "dream home". At first we thought we had found a great Builder. We were so wrong, The builder is a terrific salesman--but a terrible builder. Commitments are rarely kept, quality of work is way below average, in general working with him is a nightmare. The builder has a very, very distant relationship with honesty. He will take things which aren't his, charge for hours when no one is on site, and lie continuously. No Show-No Call are commonplace. So when he says "hello my friend"--RUN--don't walk to save yourself grief, disappointment, and dreams broken.

We had a terrible experience working with Schei Homebuilding. Our project was left unfinished, work that was "completed" was done poorly and never corrected (after repeated requests), there is work "completed" that does not meet code requirements, we were treated unprofessionally, lied to, and had to virtually handle the day to day operations on our job site, ourselves. Working with this company for over 18 months, put an extreme amount of stress on our family, and we are still left with a project that is incomplete. We would not recommend this company to anyone.

We entered into a contract to build a new construction custom home in 2017 with Schei Home Builder----Mark and Paul Scheipeter; it has been an unnecessary stressful project from the beginning; starting with a delayed groundbreaking due to an unplanned vacation, followed by many unexpected changes in layouts due to unsupervised contractors from the hired project manager Mark Scheipeter and lastly their follow through is AWFUL. We have been lied to, they have been unresponsive to emails, text messages and phone calls (Mark blocked my phone number in 2018, well within our warranty period, I called from another phone number and boy was that a surprise…trying to get more business while unable to keep up with the business he already had). We have experienced low quality workmanship, have been unsuccessful with our original punch list to be completed since we moved into our home in 2018; such as electrical issues with LED lighting, nail pops, buckled carpet, warped hardwood floors due to a water leak, weather stripping, gutters that have nowhere to drain and end in the middle of our backyard and much more. We worked with a dispersing and title company and have documentation of paying in full, with less than $500 held for grading/seeding our yard, of which was not completed until 8 months after moving in. Like other customer complaints he alleges we have not paid him (that is his MO, leaves a few bucks on the table and then won’t come back), yet he refuses to come back and complete our punch list and covered warranties reported to him within our warranty period. I do not recommend this company, please do your research and reach out to homeowners, read BBB reviews, Yelp, Google reviews and case.net filings, they are accurate reflections of this company and Mark Scheipeter. We tried for years to come to a resolution with Schei and have been unsuccessful-we have contacted PeaceMakers (a bogus company Mark put in our contract), The St. Louis Home Builders Association, Midwest BankCentre (construction loan), the BBB, title and dispersing company with no success. We’ve had several family members and friends with new builds, it's unfortunate we were unable refer Schei Home Builder, he had an incredible opportunity and completely BLEW it for any future business referrals. I plan to do what I can to spread the word about this awful experience. Buyer beware!
