I was kind of pinched to get this job done this year (2018). Seems everyone was committed. I had been looking all summer for someone. Finally came across Scott Buono.
This was the end of September 2018. We got together and he said he could do it per my request, 'before the snow flies'. He suggested the middle of October, maybe be two weeks or some. And I'm thinking ok, before Halloween perhaps, definitely before Thanksgiving.
He gave me a proposal - very general - but with a price I was willing to accept. This is where I messed up by not requiring a signed time frame. Seemed like a good guy and we were on the same page as to what I wanted so I figured a handshake was binding. I'm kinda old school and am assuming these guys still have integrity. I have always done most of this stuff myself but just can't anymore. I have learned a lot out of this adventure.
October turned into November and December and the weather was just too cold to finish up the job as it required adhesive and caulking which just doesn't work in the cold. So we agreed the job was basically finished and he would come back in the Spring to finish up the skirting around the foundation.
It is now June 2019 (two weeks turning into 9 months) and I am still trying to get in contact with him to see when he is going to come finish the job.
He does good work but is not efficient at using his time and does not communicate effectively with his clients. I never knew if he was going to work from day to day, or when. I figured he was the contractor and would let me know what was going on. I would definitely demand more signed documents, even from any other contractor.
Once again, Buyer Beware!
